If Kobe bryant gets to the finals and doesnt win how will he be viewed
Its bad enough he lost TWICE in the finals but a THIRD would be disturbing

If the celtics win the media says ohh the lakers just cant beat the celtics in a best of 7 series
If the clevland wins the media will have a field day and say LBJ is better than Kobe blah blah blah

Bottom line in order for Kobe Bryant to be in the discussion for G.O.A.T He cannot afford to lose any more finals
What do you guys think

Magic has been to 9 NBA finals and has won only 5 championships...that doesn't keep him out of GOAT discussions

Let's actually go to the Finals first... Then we'll think about it. Stay humble and don't rush things...

P.S. It sucks when we lose a game and 5-6 negative threads are created... No offense UNLABORED FLAWLESS :) I just doubt that you were going to make this thread if we won last night. ;)

it matters for about 2 months

i remember after we lost to the celtics everyone was burying kobe

a year later he is back in the MVP race

people have too short of attention spans to dwell on it for too long

You are very perceptive. I am not offended you are absolutely right i would not have made this if the lakers won last night. However I always think about Kobes legacy in general what people will say. In Jordans era Jordan was the unquestioned best player. In Kobes era its questionable (at least for the media it is) Kobe is the best player and must prove that not only against the poor and average teams but the great teams

if he loses to the cavs, depending on how close the numbers were and what players were truly the difference makers people are going to start passing the torch

Doug Collins would cream in his pants 3 years minimum...

Then it looks like Kobe lost in the Finals again. Most importantly, it will look like the Lakers have lost in the Finals their last 3 appearances.

Chimercial my dude, to me it's not good to think pessimistically.

Especially how this topic so happened to pop up right after one loss?!?

To me it's like waving the white flag.

We aight , how does it look if Kobe doesn't win it this year???

Come on give me a break.

Theres more to it than just Kobe.

Yes I am a huge Kobe fan but this situation is more than his legacy , it's about the

LAKERS ORGANIZATION LEGACY

YA DIG :)

What about getting involved with discussion within the community? It's not like you have to participate but others might want to. It keeps activity up and helps the flow of the system.

Aight my dude, I guess you really like this thread. Cool . I'll avoid steppin on toes.

Just saying this "what if" stuff to me is desperate, confused, and insecure.

An I am not desperate, confused, and insecure about our chances of winning the title this year despite unfortunate loses of mental breakdowns like last night.

14th loss in 67 games, we got a great chance of raising another banner in Staples!!!!

Doug Collins would cream in his pants 3 years minimum...

Oh lord. You're showing how little you know by saying that. Doug Collins probably praises Kobe more than any television analyst has during his career. Do you guys mute the TNT games?

Anyway, we all need to be real about Kobe's legacy: He WON'T go down as the GOAT because the media won't let him. He can win 5 more titles and be named MVP in every series and the media will STILL find reason to not put him above Jordan. If there's one player who they will allow it to happen to it's LeBron and we all know it. So if Kobe loses another Finals series that won't do anything but cement what we all know deep down.

The important thing to keep in mind is that we shouldn't give a damn about the media anyway. The media influences our country in a huge way as we know, but us real basketball heads will know what's up.
Basketball Reasons...

MEDIA THIS. MEDIA THAT. DOUG COLLINS THIS. LEBRON THAT. BLAH BLAH BLAH. THIS COUNTRY IS CONTROLLED BY THE MEDIA BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Well, the last bit is ABSOLUTELY true. However, if we learned ANYTHING by studying history, it's that time doesn't lie... over time history ALWAYS reveals the truth.

We always find out who the real winners were and who the real numbnuts were... whether Kobe gets the LOVE right now doesn't really matter in terms of his legacy because history will reveal his greatness... just like ALL things in life.

I don't mind stepping on toes. I'm all for threads that promote good discussion. But as far as I could tell, IMO, this thread is just for insecure Kobe fans looking for some consolation
