Here is the source and quote

Source

Boston Celtics captain and NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce joined Mike Greenberg as co-host of ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on Friday. He responded to the pressing questions surrounding Kobe Bryant. Pierce explained that his assertion of being the best player in the world was more of a reflection of his confidence in his own game than an insult to Bryant's. "I love Kobe. I watch Kobe all the time when I'm not playing against him," Pierce said, adding, "Right now I already have Kobe as one of the top 25 players to ever play the game at this point and he still has many years to go, so I have the utmost respect for him. It wasn't a diss or a smack down." Pierce also noted that he and Bryant have never exchanged trash talk on the court.

personally I think he is just making this up Paul thinks he is better then Kobe which is not refer to the image below

If someone as cocky as him knew for sure they were the best they would have no problem coming outright and saying it. He's hesitating and acting like a little B**ch

Pierce should play on Sundays this upcoming NFL season with some team's secondary. He is backpedaling like a defensive back. Pierce will have to back that up not just to Bryant but other notable players in The League. Good luck... Nah, on second thought, I take that back. LOL!
Five guys on the court working together can achieve more than five talented individuals who come and go as individuals.

How are guys like LeBron, Chris Paul and even his own teammate, KG going to take this? There are going to be some angry players around the league. I'm pretty sure one of his advisors just pulled him aside and said, " Look, those comments were not wise, please take them back".

If he has Kobe in the top 25 of all-time and he Pierce is the best. I wonder where he ranks himself in the all-time list.

I didn't realize that before, but he doesn't take back his statements at all. He completely sidestepped his "I'm the best comments". Wow, what an arrogant person...

Hes not even better then a injured D wade.

I see faith in your eyes
never you hear the discouraging lies
broken is the promise, betrayal
the healing hand held back by deepened nail
