Jeff Fried, the agent for Monta Ellis, was scheduled to meet again with Warriors brass at Oracle Arena on Sunday. Golden State has been holding onto its right to terminate the remainder of Ellis' six-year, $66 million deal. Ben's Take: The cynical part of me believes the Warriors will take advantage of Ellis injury to get out of the $66 million deal. Add in a nasty economy and Golden State will save some money and watch Ellis go someplace else and star. -- SF Chronicle

Yep and play next to his idol, Kobe. He would love that. Plus he doesn't have to look very far for a new house. The bay is far but not that far from L.A.

Ellis would be great. I wish it would happen.

Edit: He wears #8 so he'd probably have to change numbers, because I don't think any of us wanting him wearing #8 in a Lakers jersey.

I don't think he'll even think about wearing that number either. He said he wears #8 cause Kobe is his idol. You know he's got respect for Kobe and not wear his idol's jersey number.

Ya it would be a bit awkward to be wearing the #8  Other than that, he would be a nice addition to the team :)

Even if we could sign him, with what salary would we use? If we sign him we wont have money to spend next season to sign odom or ariza.

The Lakers could use the (as of now unused) MLE next year to get him on board. After a nice payday from the Warriors, I can totally see Ellis coming to the Lakers for cheap. That would be really nice - having a quick guard like Ellis as part of the guard core. That would definitely shore up some problems in the back court for sure.

But win the ring this season first.
