We are 79-20 since the acquisition of Pau Gasol. That's a 4:1 ratio of wins to losses. Absolutely insane. :nervous:

while Gasol doesn't work hard to receive the ball in the post

both Gasol and the bench players (primarily) are to be blamed for Pau not receiving enough touches

Let's blame Kobe for losing the game... he played injured and he didn't feel well.

Gasol played like crap on defense.

I guess that's why Horford poured the offense on Gasol, going 1/6 from the field.

Pass the ball if you're injured. Stop the chucking.

As would I, but Pau has been amazing this year and Kobe not so much, shooting low %s and [expletive]. Pau has been the most consistent player in the NBA.

If Kobe went down due to an injury, and was out for the rest of the season and playoffs...

1) this topic would be DEAD
2) the Lakers would get beaten by Dallas in the first round, in five games

Looks like we are all turning into Warriors fans. Believe in the offense. That's all that matters.

Owned. But lol yea we need both Kobe and Pau :dunno: And just saying Pau has been very consistent this year and is shooting something like 57% If he had 20+ shot attempts a game he could be scoring 27 too :dunno:
We know Kobe is the best, he is just having a suspect season for himself

Just like in 2006 and 2007 without Pau.

Kobe has proven he can play with a REAL superstar big man, and he's got three rings to show for it. Gasol doesn't have anything to show us other than a consistent offense due to him not being double-teamed constantly, and an inconsistent defense that kills us to the point where we don't want to pay attention to it.

Kobe is under the biggest microscope in the league, and when he goes down, we all know it. It's amazing how anyone can consider Pau Gasol the best player on this team.

Funny, though. We all know Kobe goes down because the entire Lakers team goes down with him.

Kobe attempted three shots in the fourth quarter. Odom missed a couple of layups, missed a three, missed a free throw or two, and tried dominating the ball.

Kobe backed off, and it didn't matter because the Lakers do nothing without Bryant running the triangle. Nothing at all. They don't know how to play ball, unless it's the second unit, running and gunning like the Suns, and that hasn't been a successful strategy of basketball all season long for us.

Maybe Pau should get under the rim like a true center does. Like Shaq did. We don't need a Mehmet Okur on this team. We need someone who will stay under the rim, dunk the ball and crash the boards, and above all of this, play defense, at least until Bynum gets back. Pachulia crushed Gasol. Bigger, stronger players always do.

You can also say Pau has never played with a legit second option in Memphis, who knows how good that team would be. Im not saying we can win without Kobe but Pau is having a better overall season.

Here's something to chew on:

2004: Spurs 4, Grizzlies 0 (first round loss)
2005: Suns 4, Grizzlies 0 (first round loss)
2006: Mavs 4, Grizzlies 0 (first round loss)

Gasol didn't win a single playoff game as a primary option.

Kobe has, nearly upsetting the Suns with Kwame, Odom, Smush and Walton starting, one not even in the NBA anymore, the other being the biggest bust in draft history, Walton being a bench player, and Odom moved to the bench at the beginning of this season.

What did Kobe do in 2006 and 2007? More than Gasol ever did.

Still without Pau here we would not have gone to the finals.

Gasol couldn't even shoot 20 or more per game. He didn't even get 15 per game in Memphis, as a primary option, mainly because he could never get under the rim because he isn't strong enough.

Do you guys watch Gasol when he doesn't have the ball, or do you watch his shooting percentage at the end of the night?

Hell, Nene is averaging 14.5 PPG on 60% from the field, nine attempts per game. I guess he could average 28 or more points per game if he had 20 shot attempts. Right?
