Kobe has been great for years, but lately i have seen that lebron james is becoming the most complete NBA player in the game ,and i think that he has taken his spot has the best player in the NBA.
there is nothing Kobe can do that lebron cant do and more. lebron is quicker faster and stronger with a better court vision ,and lately better defense.the only thing kobe had over lebron in the past was a very good jump shot and a killer instinct . however if you have watch the NBA recently you will notice that lebron James has all those things now.

think about this if you switched both players lebron to the lakers and kobe to cleveland .....man oh man lebron would have had won way more games and would have probaly got a championship already , kobe would not have won the amount of games he has now with cleveland.(recall that Cleveland and lakers has same record).and kobe clearly has the best group of talent.

if the lakers don't win this year am sorry but it will show that Kobe is not has great has everyone is saying.

if lebron is at this level now at such a young age he probly will take jordan spot as the best player when he reaches is prime!!!!!!!!!

better defense "lately" does not = better defense.

+

kobe plays in the western conference.

don't get me wrong, lebron is great, but kobe's still better.

LeBron is better in passing and team play.

Kobe is still the better scorer and defender.

Kobe is clutch in big games unlike LeBron. LeBron doesn't have Kobe's range on offense. Kobe is still the best player and he's still going to be the best player in a couple of years. I guess you forgot when Kobe shut down LeBron a couple of months ago.

Lakers vs Elite teams in the NBA

2-0 vs. Celtics
2-0 vs. Cavs
2-1 vs. Spurs

Go look up his stats against the Lakers from this season.

LeBron vs. Elite teams in the NBA

vs. Celtics: 9-21, 0-4 threes, 4-8 free throws, 7 boards, 6 ast, 3 TO, 22 pts
vs. Celtics: 13-25, 3-7 threes, 9-9 free throws, 7 boards, 6 ast, 3 TO, 38 pts
vs. Lakers: 9-25, 1-5 threes, 4-8 free throws, 9 boards, 4 ast, 6 TO, 23 pts
vs. Magic: 10-27, 0-2 threes, 3-6 free throws, 8 boards, 8 ast, 2 TO, 23 pts
vs. Lakers: 5-20, 2-8 threes, 4-8 free throws, 8 boards, 12 ast, 1 TO, 16 pts

Come back when LeBron improves his shooting, man to man defense, being clutch in close games against very good teams, improve his FT shooting, etc...

Stop comparing both players... it's getting old.

Kobe has something lebron does not at this stage. Experience and a higher Basketball IQ. People love to forget this.
"If you could stop all the players that get publicized and all the players that the NBA likes and all the players, you know, the players that win the MVP's, you know, for their offense. And some of them, you know, play pretty good defense too. But some of them, you know, they like "this guy he can shoot, he can score, he can dunk." and I want to be the one to stop all those guys, you know, and just kinda spoil the whole party." - Ron Artest

again i recpect everyone's opinion , and i do believe he is the better offensive player , but as for the better player i think that goes to lebron. kobe at lebron age was not as good as lebron is now. kobe is in is 30's too he will regress very soon he does not have the amount of time has every one thinks.

Kobe is playing next to a future HOFer in Pau Gasol.

LeBron is playing next to Mo Williams.

Huge difference.
Gooden>> Lamar Odom. Mo Williams>> Ray Allen>> Gasol. Nene= Gasol.

First of all, as. has. two different words.

We here as fans could sit here and debate who is better. blah blah. Players (current and former). Coaches. Scouts. Front offices. Has far has I've read and heard, the majority is for Kobe.

No. LeBron easily has higher b-ball IQ. Much better passer, and is more likely to pass the ball to a wide open shooter.

"Kobe is playing next to a future HOFer in Pau Gasol.

Le Bron is playing next to Mo Williams."

and this is very true .

he has a legit center and one of the most versatile forward Odom in the NBA ,a very good bench.
.
in my opinion he has the best team than most super stars never had.

he clearly has the better team than jordan's teams in the past. so i really hope he can make good use of this team now and win a championship ,but if he don't well you know what said earlier his greatness will regress to just great' offensive player' not " great player".

Pau Gasol and Mo Williams were both all star players this year.

It's not Kobe's fault he's playing with better teammates. It's not like LeBron is playing with scrubs.

Kobe is still the better. If LeBron was better than Kobe, he should be able to beat the elite teams in the NBA. Kobe also shut him down this season.

Mo Williams was a nobody until he started playing under LeBron.

Pau Gasol led his Spanish team to a silver medal in hard fought contests against loaded teams, such as team USA.

Pau Gasol has lead his team of no other All Stars to the playoffs before as well as a 50 win season.

There's no way you can compare Mo to Pau without lauhging.

LeBron is playing with a cast that we once laughed at, but we are now admiring, due to his ability to maximize their abilities. That shows higher basketball IQ.

If LeBron had a future HOFer in Pau Gasol, he would beat those same elite teams. For now, he's maximizing Zydrunas Ilgauskus and Mo Williams, lol.

i'd still take kobe over lebron right now.

but it will be interesting to see what LeBron can become once he develops a go to scoring move along with a higher IQ of the game. It's gonna be scary...

Mo Williams was a nobody before playing with LeBron?

Mo Williams averaged 17 PPG in 06-07 and 07-08.

Don't give Pau all the credit for Spain winning the silver medal, when he had other good players on his team.

In addition to all the other points everyone has made, Kobe also has the best footwork in the game. LeBron doesn't even know what a travel is.
