..well, according to this guy:

I remember last year when Carlos Boozer took Pau Gasol off the dribble and dunked on him twice to start the game and fouls were called both times. I felt really good as you can imagine about Utah's chances after that. But Phil Jackson being the sly guy he is started doubling Boozer after he put the ball on the floor.

That changed the entire series. Boozer's effectiveness went out the window. This year is different. Not only do the Lakers not have Ronnie Turiaf who was a good role player during the playoffs, but something has changed with the Jazz.

Though he may not be a credible writer, I just found this hilarious.

Check out the poll as well.

they are better this year than last year

Deron is better...Brewer and Miles have bigger roles and are productive. They have Kirilenko coming off the bench. Millsapp is a legit 20/10 guy.

Boozer is the only one who's production has fallen off but the others have picked it up.

I think they're our biggest competition in the West.

They can't beat us but I don't think we can beat them in 4 or 5 games either.

That guy needs to shut up.
If the playoffs were today, Jazz might not even make it to the second round, they play the hornets.

Agree... i don't know what it is with Utah but I'm convinced they've woken the mormon spirits up to strengthen them... They're a mean team and definitely our toughest challenge. Boozer was hardly effective last season but with the team stepping up and every player kind of coming into his own, i don't think that's much of an issue anymore. When a team like that goes from 7 to 4 in a mere 2 weeks (granted 4 to 8's pretty close) it's a scray thing.

The Jazz can't play in Staples...

Since 2006-2007 season
Lakers 7-0 Vs. Jazz @ Home, Average margin of victory: 13.6

If we get HCA at least for the west, we will dominate the jazz. Since 2006-2007 the Lakers are 3-5 @ Utah. Jazz has been beating the Lakers by an average margin of 3.4 @ their house. So we play them pretty close in Utah, but once we get into LA territory, it's domination.

Ya, even last year in the playoffs, every game in Utah was winnable for the Lakers. First game, if Luke holds on the ball when it's tipped to him on the jump-ball(I think), we have a chance to win. 2nd game in Utah, if Kobe doesn't injure his back, we're good, especially knowing it would go into overtime. Then the 3rd game, one of the greatest nights of my life, we finally won, barely too. I remember those last 10+ seconds, Utah jacking up 3's trying to tie up the game and missing every one.

Every game is winnable there. I'm not afraid of them at all.

We can sweep them if we play focused enough ! It's going to be a hard matchup though... We can dominate anyone if we want it enough, but we can fall to anyone if we underestimate them, or if we don't take certain games seriously...

They're only a threat if they have home court advantage. They don't.
"If you could stop all the players that get publicized and all the players that the NBA likes and all the players, you know, the players that win the MVP's, you know, for their offense. And some of them, you know, play pretty good defense too. But some of them, you know, they like "this guy he can shoot, he can score, he can dunk." and I want to be the one to stop all those guys, you know, and just kinda spoil the whole party." - Ron Artest

Utah is probably our biggest threat in the western conference, even more so than the Spurs. They match up very well with us. We may get to avoid playing them, however if we don't since, we have home court advantage, I'm sure we could win.
