Behind the Box Score, where the obscured guy wins every time

By Kelly Dwyer

Then there's the Shaq nonsense.

Though we were prepared for Mike Wilbon to make excuse after excuse for Shaquille O'Neal in his taped sit down with the Suns center (he was already mentioning Shaq's pathetic attempts at avoiding blame on this week's PTI), it didn't make the interview any less sad. When is someone in the national media, with a TV camera in front of him or her, going to finally call Shaq out for being a childish, jealous, sensitive, insufferable [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]?

Van Gundy blamed his actions on the frustrations of a declining superstar, which is just ridiculous. O'Neal acted like this in his early 20s, his mid-20s, his late 20s, his early 30s, today, tomorrow ... at what point are people going to realize that such petulance is a pattern?

And at what point are we going to learn to accept this sort of idiocy and pettiness as a significant part of the overall package, and not something to be ignored? This isn't a lion in winter situation. This guy was lyin' in spring, summer, and fall.

There's more check out the link at the top.

Lemme just add a little bit more

Don't edit the original post again.

You still can't post the full article because it's illegal.

No, you need to stop trying to break the rules.

We have rules for a reason. You can't post more than 2-3 paragraphs because it's illegal and the site can get in trouble. Do you want TLN to get in trouble because you think it's ok to post the full article, even after I edited your post? Why did you add the full article, after I edited the original post, and told you not to post the whole article?

You can't post full articles on any site on the internet. You're taking hits away from Yahoo when you post the full article on the forum. Do you think Yahoo is going to be ok with us taking hits away from their site?

If people want to continue reading the article, they can click on the link. What's so hard to understand?

Over the last four years, my site has been warned twice for posting full articles (by Yahoo and ESPN).

Here on out, we need to enforce this here. Post 2-3 blocks of text, and link to the rest of the article.

You may not understand why other sites want this, but there are two main reasons:

1) With this being the biggest reason, the article links give hits to those sites providing the article...and, what's the point of even clicking the link if the entire article is posted elsewhere?

2) To be sure credit is given to the correct author/source, viewing the full article on the original page is necessary.

Let me put it this way: if you wrote a huge season preview, posted it in your featured blog (say you're paying for a website of your own), and wanted everyone to read it...would you be angry if sites were copying your text and posting it everywhere, without a link and without proper credit? Not to mention, they'd post the full article, and nobody would visit your site, which means you lose hits and, in some cases, revenue from your ad placement.

Just a couple of blocks of text posted, with a link at the top or bottom...and it not only helps their site out, but may keep TLN out of trouble.

Thanks guys.
