The Dallas Cowboys have released controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith late Wednesday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not deny the team is discussing the possible release of Owens in late February.

"That Stephen and I were debating about Terrell, that's just misinformation," Jones said regarding his son, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones at the time. "That's just not accurate. I don't know where that comes from. That's just total misinformation."

The Cowboys paid Owens a $12 million signing bonus just last year, included as part of a new four-year, $34 million deal.

Owens caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

I loved T.O.'s competitiveness... But the team will be better off without him demanding the ball all the time and forcing Romo to try and get it to him which led to picks. Hopefully Roy Williams can step up.

Pro: We do not have to deal with his rant and raves
Con: When he did get the ball things did happen.
Pro: We do not have to force the ball his way to make him happy
Con: Just his presence on the field helped our O

man would i love to see him as a cardinal. We got Warner back. If the cardinals and boldin cant agree on a new contract then bring in T.O. Lose a 81. Bring in another 81. Fitzgerald and T.O, catching passes from Warner. If only . . .

well, if the two parties cant agree and boldin is just gonna be all moody about it, why not. chemistry is important, and i know T.O isnt exactly the solution for everything but winning is. but who knows, theres always marvin harrison too. so many options.

If the Raiders get TO, I don't think we draft a WR in the draft this year.

I hope we don't sign him, there's safer options out there or draft a WR in the 2nd rd.

Looks like Dallas also cut Roy Williams. Man he was freaking awesome when he was younger. I thought he was going to be the next Ronnie Lott. Damn, he used to be the best hitter in the league. Then he got too fat and sucked in coverage.
