That's the Same Old Spurs to you, and yes, they're still a legitimate threat in the West -- enough so to make Lakers fans nervous...

So, when the Spurs are in town, it means taking a measure of the future. That means both a week from Thursday, when the Lakers are in San Antonio, and sometime in May, when projections have the Lakers playing the Spurs in the NBA's Western Conference finals.

Remember last season's conference finals? The Lakers won the series, 4-1, but not before the Spurs had a chance to make it 2-2, when Derek Fisher fell on top of a shooting Brent Barry in the last seconds of a two-point game. All three referees inhaled and the Lakers finished it out in the next game.

So Lakers fans are understandably wary. You can't get to the Celtics, or whatever powerhouse comes out of the East, if you can't get past the Spurs.

Really? I'm nervous about the Spurs?

Shoot - I didn't even know that...

Gimme a break.

Sounds like someone is trying to make the race in the West interesting because interest is fading as quickly as the Spurs chances of getting within 5 games of the Lakers.

Yeah, until the Spurs give me reason to worry about them, I'm not worried.

They won't be a threat. They first gotta get passed whomever will be the winner of the 3 vs 6 seed, if they still will wind up with the 2 seed. But your right, S.O.S.

I'm not worried about the Spurs, we lost to them because of a few fluke plays on their behalf(Tim throwing it up without even seeing the rim and Mason hitting the jumper falling on his ass.) and then we blew their asses out at home.

I'm not saying it will be easy I'm just not worried. The Spurs are getting older and slower and the Lakers are getting younger and faster.
"If you could stop all the players that get publicized and all the players that the NBA likes and all the players, you know, the players that win the MVP's, you know, for their offense. And some of them, you know, play pretty good defense too. But some of them, you know, they like "this guy he can shoot, he can score, he can dunk." and I want to be the one to stop all those guys, you know, and just kinda spoil the whole party." - Ron Artest

TIMMY D......no more rings
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

If they get second or third, they will have to face Denver probably in round 2 and I wouldn't bet the house on SA in that series. Of course if they play Utah or New Orleans in first round they may not get past that one. Tough West.

I'd like to see the Spurs have to play some combination of Por/Uth/NOH (2 of 3) before they get to us.

Seriously, can anyone see the Spurs beating us 4 times in a series with a healthy Bynum?

Come on now.

No one in the West scares the Lakers with Bynum, but we need him if we want to go all the way.

I'm not afraid of any team. When we're 100%, we are the best. Without Bynum, I believe we are still the best.

Only thing that worries me is the spurs deciding they will make 7-10 three pointers in a half.

One of the biggest reasons I bought the Lakers was to beat the Celtics …..you just got it into your soul that you couldn't stand the Celtics anymore
