Gooden or Smith is an upgrade on front court.

the lakers won't get him. he already has a deal with the cavs. like marbury had with the celtics.

he has played with the cavs, it's easier for him.

Cavs Insider Predicts To See Joe Smith In Cavs Uniform Tomorrow

OK, let me just jump in here, just to fill everyone in on where things stand as I see them right now. And explain how this all came to be, and things that can happen along the way.

Joe Smith being bought out, was born a long long time ago in the mind of Danny Ferry. It's been an option we were thinking we could utilize at any moment, and was our crutch even as we approached the trade deadline.

When Ben went down with his injury, it became option 1, that we wanted to get taken care of. Our people contacted Dan Fegan, and Dan Fegan ...and we, hammered out buyout details in concert with OKC, so that Joe Smith felt as comfortable as possible asking for, and going through with this process that would land him in Cleveland.

Now, this IS a competitive league, and teams do have the ability to step in and mess with pre-arranged plans if they want to.

As of last night, our players hadn't heard from Joe personally, yet ...and to a few that had become a concern, but, today Joe did make contact with a couple players on the team, and it looks as though all systems are go for his arrival here. That was this AM.

The writiers that write what they write, I don't know where they get their stuff, or if they just make it up along the way. It's been proven that SAS does just make stuff up alot, if not most of the time.

Now, all the prearranged stuff in the world doesn't stop teams from trying to mess with another teams plans along the way ...they are all seeking the same championship, and want it juist as bad as us.

Is it 100% Joe Smith ends up here ...of course not. Not until he signs, is it absolutely a done deal. I've explained the buyout plan was bargained between OKC, Joe Smith and his reps, and the Cavaliers.

Now, we may have a team come in an try to up the verbal that we have arranged already. But, here's the thing ...Dan Fegan has been working in good faith with us through this whole process. If other teams even HAVE come forward and tried to get in on this action, I feel he would come back to us and make sure that we had the opportunity to match whatever is out there from an opposing team. That being said, I can't see us ..with what we have available to offer, not doing what it would take to make sure he ends up coming here.

I predict we will see him in Clevenad tomorrow night ...hopefully in uniform.

I've been in the business ,long enough to know nothing is ever 100% until the signature is on the paper. I've explained in detail exactly how this has all gone down ..I 've hidden nothjing from you guys. You understand the situation as well as I do right now.

Let's hope that the pre-arranged plans don't get mesed with by anyone, but even if they do ..I think we'll have that covered as well. I think Fegan has enough riding on his improved relationship with the Cavs that he won't pull anything dirty on us.

That's how I read it.

ESPN is now reporting Smith to Cavs and Gooden to Spurs. Dang I would like to have had either, but that is the way it goes. Go Lakers.

You may be onto something, but it may be more from Gooden's and Smith's eyes than FO. They know Phil won't play newcomers and thus chose not to come here. When I watched a tired LA team shoot 29 percent on Friday and yet Phil wouldn't let Adam at least get a chance, I knew then why even try to add anyone during season with him as head coach.

Joe Smith doesn't scare me as much as Gooden on the Spurs. Gooden is a very solid player and immediately becomes the second best bigman on the Spurs. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a starting lineup of

Duncan
Gooden
Finley
Mason
Parker

6th man Manu

come playoff time. That should make Laker fans nervous if Bynum isn't back at full strength.

Smith is 10 times the player Gooden is. Gooden is a decent rebounder, but is otherwise extremely inconsistent. He can be JO one night, and the next night Adonyl Foyle. You don't know what you get.

With Smith, every night you have a consistent outside threat, somebody who will block shots, get steals, and play good man to man defense.
Gooden>> Lamar Odom. Mo Williams>> Ray Allen>> Gasol. Nene= Gasol.
