Jackson has made it clear that he is a fan of 7-footer DJ Mbenga.
Jackson admires the backup center's work habits, and said he believes he has something to offer the Lakers. Now if only Mbenga could stay out of foul trouble.
Mbenga matched his career high when he scored eight points in the Lakers' rout Thursday over the Phoenix Suns. He might have scored more, but picked up five fouls in almost 15 minutes.
"DJ's going to get an opportunity," Jackson said. "He did get five fouls in about eight minutes. I saved him a foul-out by pulling him out of the game in the last two or three minutes. He's a physical player. We've got to tone down his game just enough so he can play and not put us in jeopardy with fouls.
