You BETTER NOT still think he deserved the MVP in 05-06.

You can't have it both ways.

You mean the year Shaq averaged the same amount of points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blks, on a higher shooting percentage of 57%?
Gooden>> Lamar Odom. Mo Williams>> Ray Allen>> Gasol. Nene= Gasol.

Played 40mpg 5.8 rpg 5.0apg 1.7stlpg increased his scoring by 6 points.

i never really thought he deserved it in 06' or 07'...

i did think he was the best player in the league playing with the likes of kwame, smush, brian cook, pre-machine sasha (who appears to be coming back), luke, george, etc...

His individual accomplishments were amazing and historic, but not enough to warrant an MVP simply because of his team records which strongly dictate who wins the award.

In any case, I'd like to see another chip added to our franchise rather than another mvp award and im POSITIVE that the mamba feels the same way.

05-06...

He led a team of scrubs ( besides Lamar, Drew and some other guys ) to the playoffs averaging 35.4 ppg...

I don't care if he wins MVP, and I think he doesn't care either, If we win the ring, he will be happy.
Kobe wins the ring, and Lebron the MVP, let's see who is happier.

Yep. Rings.

IMO, Kobe is the player of the decade.

What he needs, though, is more rings.

You BETTER NOT still think he deserved the MVP in 05-06.

You can't have it both ways.

He is as deserving this year as anyone else including BSPN's golden boy LeBron. LeBron on the other hand is probably as deserving as Kobe. I never said he deserved MVP in 05-06 but I will say now no one, and I mean no one in NBA, would have done any better with that group of scrubs than Kobe did. A lot of fans have it both ways with certain other Lakers so don't know why Kobe is any different. When I read repeatedly that Bynum is better than Howard, I can believe anything.

I think Lebron should get it this year (and he will)

The Lakers could still do well without Kobe, the same cannot be said about the cavs. When James plays a bad game they always lose. (if my memory serves me correctly anyway)
"If you could stop all the players that get publicized and all the players that the NBA likes and all the players, you know, the players that win the MVP's, you know, for their offense. And some of them, you know, play pretty good defense too. But some of them, you know, they like "this guy he can shoot, he can score, he can dunk." and I want to be the one to stop all those guys, you know, and just kinda spoil the whole party." - Ron Artest

It could go either way this year, imo

But like I tell my roommates, even if Lebron does win MVP, Kobe is still the better overall player (Lebron has no shot, well not like Kobes), and Kobe is winning the ring this year

The Lakers wouldn't do well without Kobe, but I hope we never get to find out who is right and who is wrong on this. The Last thing LA needs is for Kobe to get hurt. People might find out then how it is when some of the others get played straight up 1 on 1 instead of 2-3 always flocking to Kobe leaving some of the others open.

I think the Lakers with a healthy Bynum and without Kobe would do pretty good. They would definitely be a 50+ team. I think you would see the triangle run much more often and lower scoring games.

I thought he deserved that year, but the sportswriters made it clear that the best player on the best team deserves it, so now i think that Kobe deserves, so I(we) can have it both ways
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers
