Phil Jackson was asked if the Lakers had any desire to pursue Stephon Marbury.

"There's no desire on our part," Jackson said. "We're interested in the fact that here's a player in his prime years that's not playing and deserves a chance to play, but for us, it doesn't work."

He doesn't work for the Lakers.

Once again, Phil, Mitch and the Lakers are correct.

Makes sense I guess. As far as putting together all the pieces needed for a championship, we already have them all. We obviously don't need him. But his talent is undeniable, and could potentially be a big piece off the bench for our competition. It would have been funny if they pursued him just so Boston couldn't get him, but it's fine either way. We're still the better team overall even if he does pan out as a spark off the bench, especially since they gave their other open spot to Mikki Moore who sucks.

^ i can say his talent was undeniable. i dont know that he is the same player. i mean he isnt AI, and we see how he is stuggling in THAT system. I feel like we will have to wait and see
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers
