Nuggets center Nene said he will try to play Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nene suffered a right knee bone bruise in Sunday's game. He sat out Monday and won't play tonight at Pepsi Center against Atlanta.

"I'm hoping (for Friday), said Nene, who leads the NBA in shooting percentage with 60.9. "I'll do the therapy, do the exercise and try to feel comfortable. ... There's been a lot of progress. Day-by-day it's getting better."

Nuggets athletic trainer Jim Gillen said Nene worked out in the pool on Wednesday afternoon, jumping and running.

great he will throw the team off its wits and the lakers will cruise
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

No surprise there. Almost everybody seems to miraculously heal up when we're their next opponent.

That game will be a rough go for the Lakers, as they won't get into Denver until pretty dang late.

No Nene would help a lot. But a forced Nene won't help the Nuggets either.

Everyone wants to play the best.
