look out for that Goran Dragic...hahahahhaha

Good call. You know scrubs always kill us.

I hope we can somehow get a blowout lead in this game and the sooner the better, so Adam Morrison and Shannon Brown can finally play again damn it, but unfortunately I doubt it cuz even if we do, we'll probably just let them quickly back in the game like we always do as usual.

Scouting Report

Everything old is new again…

The Phoenix Suns have brought back their old “seven seconds or less” mentality and offensive approach. They are back to runnin’ and gunnin’ under new head coach Alvin Gentry. They are 4-1 since the all-star break. Steve Nash is back to being the catalyst of their offense with the ball in his hand most of the time as he orchestrates their offense and fastbreak. The Suns are looking to run so much that their lane runners sometimes are leaking out before Phoenix secures the rebound. The Suns will run a high volume of screen and rolls and while some are scripted (set play calls) most are not. They are a very good drive and kick team. The Suns are absolutely explosive in transition off of turnovers so we MUST MUST MUST protect the ball tonight. We cannot feed their frenzy by turning it over. Also, there will be chances for us to run because the Suns’ guards sometimes get buried off of their own penetrations but we must not get sucked into playing their style of ball.

With Amare Stoudemire out with an eye injury the Suns are playing small ball with the exception of their center. Shaq is still an imposing presence and lately has been doing a great job of sealing his defender deep in the paint. We cannot lean on him too much in the post because he can still spinout and get the lob. We will have to change up our defense on him because at this stage of his career he is a willing passer. Active hands when we attack him will be crucial. Coach Gentry is adding plays on a game by game basis. One of the latest is a play they opened their last game with. Shaq starts high in the middle of the floor as the point brings the ball up. Grant Hill is down on the left block and they have shooters in the corners. Shaq pins down on Hill in the middle of the lane and immediately turns and seals. Because the pindown must be defended it opens the opportunity for Shaq to seal.

Another play that they have dusted off is their old “21”. The generic call in the NBA for this action is ‘Pistol’. There are a variety of ways to initiate this series but usually the point will either pass ahead to a guard at the wing or the point can just dribble off the guard’s screen. A big will immediately follow and set a screen. This turns into either a quick screen and roll for the player who started on the wing or it will be a flare for the guard. Another simple play that they ran frequently in their last game is a screen and roll where their 2 guard – Jason Richardson – will set the screen for the point. If the defense switches then J Rich can post up. Meanwhile, Shaq is occupying the weakside and flashing in the paint.

Defensively, the Suns will look to front the post (except for shaq). They will do a lot of switching then attack any mismatch that seems to be a problem. While all this is going on Shaq is in the back playing a one man zone protecting the paint. They have shown an occasional zone and if it is effective they will stay in it. Basically, they will gamble and try things to hurry up and get the ball back so they can run and score.

It's easy to look for. The game isn't on yet so there will probably be nothing to watch. But it's on TNT so you can probably just watch the Cleveland vs Houston game then switch over to the Lakers vs Phoenix game.

yeah, the lakers suck...They LET teams back in, even when they play good defense and their offense fades and teams start to heat up, they are LETTING the team get back. THEY should be BLOWING out these teams. Every game thats not against Boston, SA, or the Brons should be a blowout. WE HAVE MORE TALENT THJAT ANY TEAM...hell any team in history.
I mean all the suns have are Shaq, Nash, Hill, bARBOSA andthe Lakers have ALL future HALL of FAMERS
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

It may be over-looked, but we Sasha fans are happy that Sasha isn't sitting on the floor anymore.
