They had an 8 team league back then and only two rounds to win a title.

Then you see why Russell had it much easier.

I didn't say that Shaq would drop 60 on Wilt, either.

Wilt would be the best center in the league right now, I believe, but he's not the greatest player to ever play the game, and he's the second best scorer in NBA history, and I could argue third.

Thurmond was about 40 pounds less than Wilt. Russell was 55 pounds less, and three inches shorter.

You stated Thurmond and Russell weighed less ,and were shorter. You also said that "As great as Russell and Thurmond are, they all played against each other, and when it came time to defend Wilt, there was little to nothing anyone could really do."

I assume you are saying that because of Wilt's weight, and height, he was unstoppable(which is most people's argument).. Yao is 5 inches taller than Shaq, you don't see him scoring 60 points or getting over 30 rebounds.

You can he's not the greatest player to ever play the game, I don't see why he can't, he should be in the talk of the greatest player. But then again, there really can't be a "greatest" player, as they all played in different eras. You can say the greatest players of an era, but of all-time? Impossible, they can't be compared.

60s, Russell, Wilt
70s Robertson, Kareem
80s magic larry
90s, Jordan
00s Shaq, Duncan, Kobe

You could argue Wilt is the greatest palyer to paly the game, come on.

6 players at least should be in the argument as the greatest player of all-time(I'm pretty sure you say Jordan)
Magic, Larry, Jordan, Oscar, Wilt, and Russell.

I'd plow Vanessa Bryant.

Well, personally, I think Jordan is the clear-cut greatest ever. #2 is very debatable. Every player in NBA history had a weakness, except for Michael; there wasn't a single thing you could tell me that Jordan couldn't do, especially after he started hitting threes.

Gambling.

Yep, that's usually what everyone says when I ask what Jordan's weakness was.

Wilt's numbers are astronomical and inhuman. Unfortunately the stats can't say who's the better scorer, cause they played in different eras...

MJ may be better, but I'll take Wilt over him, easily if I'm building a team...

A seven footer who can shoot jumpshot, run and pass like a point guard (he could outrun Leandro Barbosa), who has a finesse game, nice fadeaway, can rebound, score, and block shots at will, and in great shape even in his 50's doesn't grow on trees...

Dwight Howard is a help defender... Wilt would DESTROY him... Wilt will not stop Shaq (prime Shaq was impossible to stop), and vice versa...

MJ's weakness, well... Kwame Brown for starters lol...

Faster than Barbosa? I think that was Wilt when he was in track and field back in high school, but not the professional basketball player. He was already 250 pounds as a rookie, and shot up to 275 pretty quickly, and ended up at over 300 pounds. There's no chance he was as fast as Barbosa.
