Bought a new battery and a new charger and I thought the problem was fixed (laptop was working fine for a minute) but it's back to "19% available plugged in not charging. I'm guessing it has something to do with the "female" connector on the side of the laptop.
Did an online search and followed a bunch of different steps (i.e. removing battery, uninstalling/reinstalling ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, etc) but the problem still persists so thats why I think it's something to do with the "battery port" aka power jack

Anyone have any experience with the dreaded "plugged in but not charging" issue?

Like you suspect it's most likely hardware issue. My brother's vaio quit charging and I took it apart an found a piece from the port that keeps the charger in place making contact was missing.
I messed with it and now it charges with a aftermarket charger

I can't do it myself (don't have that kind of expertise with laptops) and it looks like it's gonna cost a grip to get it fixed because the entire laptop has to be taken apart. fml

What's the model number? You can do it trust me. The worst laptop I've ever serviced was a MacBook pro before the unibody ones. PITA

woke up this morning and all of a sudden the computer is 100% charged.
Yea it probably is that piece that's faulty or missing. Have you ever dropped your laptop? Theirs would sometimes charge if the connection was just right.

Yes you can. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible. If I buy a computer that has USB 3.0 input, can I plug my USB 2.0 into it? Or does 3.0 have different input/output?

To Mac users:
Has anyone downloaded the new Mountain Lion OS?
I put in a redeem code that I got by email after signing up to get it for free since...since if you bought a Macbook Pro after June 11, you're qualified for a free upgrade instead of paying $20. I started ...downloading it, I guess you could say.. but the little ticker thing isn't exactly moving right along.. unless this [expletive] indeed takes over an hour to download? I know it's a freakin OS for gods sake so it's highly possible it'd take ages, but I'm reading around, and some say it took them ONLY 10 minutes..others say 40.. others say 2-3 hours. I guess it depends on your internet connection obviously, but eh.. it says "DOWNLOADING...." so I would hope it really is downloading lol. Just making sure all's ok lol..

Nah, I did clean install. I just hate the trackpad gestures. I prefer Snow Leopard's gestures better.
