PHOENIX - It certainly wouldn't be the first NBA All-Star game where a bit of craziness broke out. Whenever the NBA's finest get together in early February, zaniness often is the order of the day.

But on Friday, it was the 63-year-old coach in the corner of the room shaking up the desert sands, as Lakers coach Phil Jackson implied that he wouldn't be averse to seeing Shaquille O'Neal take a final dance in a Lakers uniform one day.

"We know that there's always a chance you'll have an opportunity to have a player like that," Jackson said, a wry smile coming across his face. "I was thinking about Robert Parish coming and playing one season with the Chicago Bulls. Playing a limited role, but being an influence on a team when he's 40 years old.
"So, we always say these old crocodiles, these alligators that patrol the lanes, have a long life span. So it would be great to see (O'Neal) back someday and, you know, coaching him."

Depends on if we win this year. If we do, I can see him pushing for a buyout and joining in the summer.

It would be a Cindarella ending to one of the greatest big men of all-time.

it would never happen as long as kobe's a laker. just read mark heisler's column for today.

kobe doesn't like shaq. and shaq doesn't like kobe, he is just playing and people are buying it. shaq needs the attention and that's why he's always talking about kobe.

I think they do genuinely like each other now. They are both grown people and have matured since they were last on the same team back in '04. One thing in common, was when they were together, they won. No question about that.

Bynum can't come off the bench, not when he can potentially drop 20/10 every night, like he was showing before he went down due to another injury (when we actually looked for him, at least).

I don't know what to say, at that point.

If Kobe wins this year without Shaq, there will be nothing that would keep Kobe from welcoming Shaq back.

Why do you guys care so much about Kobe winning a championship without Shaq? You guys must care more about Kobe than the Lakers. :nah:

We have a lot of one-player fans, as Lakerfool stated.

Exactly, whatever it takes. If Shaq can help us win then of course they should try to do it. Ego's should not take the place of winning.

Yeah...that's it.

Not that Shaq is more likely to take a buyout to join a Championship Laker team.
Not that we can win a chip without Shaq.
Not that it would take a combination of key players to match salary for Shq while not guaranteeing he will compensate for the loss of those players...

Shaq to LAL now isn't feasible without damaging/changing the current squads chances.

What Nissan said. I love Kobe, but I can't wait to see who the real fans are once he retires.

Wouldn't Shaq have a greater incentive to drop much of his buyout offer if he were to want to get a buyout this year? He will have been paid much of his contract this year so the incentive for Shaq and the Suns would be to make a buyout before this season ends.

Of course!!!!

Use the 20 mil in expiring junk to trade for him!!!!!

Oh wait...

That's right. We don't have it to spare.

If you are willing to trade LO, why not for a guy like Amare, a guy we can build with for the next 7 years (at least)?

Or is SHAQ's return more important than winning long term?

PHO isn't looking to move Shaq. If Shaq is going to force his way out, it would be better at the end of the season than in the middle, which is a slap in the face of his current org and his teammates.

Or does that only matter when it's a Laker player?
