The Game is one of the more underrated rappers of the new crop. He really upped his game (no pun intended) on the last album and looking back on it, his rhyming on The Documentary is better than most critics gave him credit for at the time.

Because Lil' Wayne IS better than him. I got nothing but love for the Game, but Lil' Wayne is in another tier. Both I'd put in the top 10 of young/new rappers out there.

This might be the only place in the world where I'm considered to be underrating the Game. Maybe this is a case of West coast bias vs. Dirty south bias....

You're making it sound like I was disrespecting the Game, which just isn't the case.

I'm not arguing who makes better songs - and even if we were, I'd argue that Wayne and Game have an equal amount of great "songs" - and I'm certainly not turning this into a "this guy sucks, this guy rules" school yard taunting match.

The Game, as I said multiple times, is highly underrated and has developed into one of the 10 best MCs out there.

But on pure skills, Wayne is on another planet. By nature of his free-associative, abstract, off-the-dome style, he's completely chaotic, uneven and prone to missteps. He's like the hip-hop equivalent of the Mars Volta, not always knowing when he's got a good idea or a bad one. The dude is efffin' insane, which yields mixed results.

Tha Carter III isn't perfect, but neither was The Doctor's Advocate.

I really do think this boils down to regional bias and/or personal preference. I've lived in Florida since 1999 and my most extensive hip-hop education occurred during the last few years in Tallahassee, so I have a huge affinity for southern rap.

I'll concede that Wayne is an acquired taste and a little out there for most ears, which is why it is incredible that he sold a million copies of TC3 in its first week.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the Game whatsoever. I'm just happy to have them both around to keep the music interesting.
