Energetic youngster, great athlete. Will have a bigger impact than Morrison.

but when will he play? i mean there's sasha and jordan...i don't think phil will give him any minutes. and if he is good and the lakers know it, then what about sun?

if you guys say this guy is good, then could the trade really be for him, instead of morrison?

any player that's on a losing team would be happy to play for the lakers.

I REALLLY REALLLLY HATE THE FACT that we gave up Rad instead of LUKE but seriously Morrison is a TOP pick, there is potential there and he is young

Shannon Brown is an explosive SG, I like him

Maybe he can play good enough for an MLE contract. Then, once he gets it from Mitch, we can all criticise him.

I don't really care anything at all about Adam Morrison. If he plays well, then great, if not, he saved us some money.

Hopefully, as some have mentioned, Shannon Brown will be effective when he gets a chance to play.

It would be Puke and Vujabrick part 3 then.

Damn, I wished it was Luke... I think it was just for financial reasons...

Space Cadet is the better shooter and defender (although that's not saying much), although Morrison still have potential, and players' FG% generally increased when playing with Kobe... Plus he's cheaper...

Brown's report looks a lot like Ariza's. If we can develop him it will be a huge plus.

Competition is always good, plus, if Vujaclank's bad play continues, then Shannon Brown will get his chance.

This is a great trade on all fronts.

I'm not even going to get into the Luke thing, as its obvious that his skills are still under-appreciated. I laugh at fans think moving Luke is the logical move when he's starting for a Phil Jackson team (for which the Lakers have done damn well since he stepped into that role -as they did before when Luke was healthy) that has other options besides him. Luke works well for this team and as long as Phil is coach, he isn't going anywhere. At some point I'd hope people would learn to appreciate the things he does for the team. Anyway, that's as far as that.

There is reason to have doubt about Morrison. However, there's also reason to be intrigued and encouraged by him too.

First off, the guy's a winner - and has a passion for winning. That's key right there.

Morrison, although not a defender by anyone's stretch of the imagination doesn't have the same habit ingrained in him that Vladi did. He's younger, more willing to learn and I always believe that the power of the Laker legacy, Phil Jackson and Kobe will and can have a great effect on a player's willingness to perform.

Ariza was no superstar when he came here, but look at the development of him in a really short time.

Getting Morrison, you retain some of the shooting ability of Radmanovic too. With Vladi playing so little, replacing a bad contract with a more favorable contract of a younger player that is willing to do more to become a good player. The devastating injury Morrison had his rookie year, the fledgling team he was on and the uncertain role he played in Charlotte all leads to nobody really having a good grasp on what he can or can't do yet.

Guaranteed that for better or worse Phil and company will siphon out the truth underneath his game right now. If worse comes to worse, then you deal him in a package or you let him go later, still relieving the Lakers of money but in the meantime giving them someone they could possibly mold to fill a gap or two right now.

Then you throw in a guy like Shannon Brown.

No, he's not the savior of the team or any team, but he will prove to be the coup within this deal.

Like me LD2K were saying Brown's size and ability to keep up with either quick 1's or quick 2's could prove to be invaluable. With Sasha' developing reaching habits and rocky defense right now, it lets the Lakers have another option in the back court against guys like House defensively.

He's got a decent shot and is another young mind that has yet to really show what he can do in a system laden with veteran players.

Really - I can't get over this deal. Mitch has pulled another big deal off underneath the guise of a small one.

As much as I liked Vladi as a person and a personality on this team, I was always saying that he's the one guy they need to find a deal for. But with his contract I thought it would be impossible to get anything of quality back. And yeah, like I said there is question marks around the potential of both of these players. But Mitch found a quality deal for a bloated, tough to unload contract.

Great deal! Great deal! Great deal!

Thanks guys!

Also, let's say that things work out incredibly well with Morrison. You're now looking at Mitch building the team up for the future while maintaining the integrity and depth of the team for the now.

In the post-Kobe era a burgeoning lineup of:

C - Bynum
PF - Gasol (not as old as everyone thinks he is sometimes)
SF - Ariza / Morrison
SG - Mayo (it will happen, believe me)
PG - Farmar

Not too bad.

Anyway, back to the topic...
