Kobe has taken a lot of players under his wing in the past, but none have been able to turn his guidance into dominance (butler doesnt count because he sucked as a laker). This may be reaching, but I see A LOT of potential and similarites between kobe and ariza. ariza can pulloff alot of the same moves as kobe and has the boosties to outjump most of the nba. he may not be as strong as kobe or as skilled of a ballhandler (that can be worked on), but his develpoment of the three is gonna open the floor for him and he needs some of kobe's moves.

Ariza...Kobe's REAL protege?

no. Sorry. But Ariza is a slasher. Kobe is a scorer.

And Caron Butler didnt suck. He averaged 15/5 as a Laker in his third season, which meant he had to get used to the triangle.

He played under Rudy T, who used an up tempo motion offense and discarded the triangle. Frank Hamblen tried to reinstate the triangle after Rudy suddenly quit, but it was an utter disaster. Caron was gone by the time Philip arrived. He got to teach it to Kwame, remember?

there is no one else on the lakers that deserves to be called kobe jr. in my opinion.

maybe farmar, someday. but he needs to step up a hell of a lot before he gets that credit.

i know what he means, he plays similar to Kobe, especially a young Kobe. Of course Kobe is a helluva lot more skilled and has wayyyyy better footwork, but still Ariza has been taken(?) under Kobe's wing and it has proved successful for his game
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers
