Tex mostly won't sign with us unless we go 10years. Also we already a package for Peavy i think it's around Weaver.

Brown and Edes say the Angels were told the Red Sox and Nationals offered eight years at about $20MM per. The Angels don't want to do an eighth year, so they'll look into trades for Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko, and possibly Adrian Beltre. Raul Ibanez is the top free agent backup plan.

Kevin Towers told reporters the proposed Peavy deal with the Cubs is dead. The Cubs pulled out. Mike DiGiovanna heard earlier that the Angels remain interested. Towers is not certain he wants to engage in further Peavy discussions at this time. I think even hot stove junkies wouldn't mind a respite.

As an Angels fan, the ONLY move that would make up for losing Tex would be landing Peavy. Love that dude.

I don't think Ibanez would be enough on offense.

They've got a pic of Peavy on the Angels home page. I LOVE IT!
We have soooo much material to acquire him.
Way too many infielders and pitching prospects.
I think Willits would make a nice lead off man in San Diego.
Hell, they're already the best Triple A team in the NL.

The Padres are believed to be seeking infielder Brandon Wood and pitchers Nick Adenhart and Kevin Jepsen in a package for Peavy, a 27-year-old right-hander who has $63 million left over four years on his contract.

I would hold off on trading Adenhart. But after seeing Wood in his time on the big club, I could part with him. It looked like he kept trying to pull everything and was always chasing the breaking ball off the plate. Maybe they'll take Weaver and Wood.
In terms of power bats, Dunn and Burrell are still out there. Plus, I've heard of the possibility of trading for Garrett Atkins from Colorado and moving Figgy to the outfield. And I really think that the Angels should sign Mark Prior to a minor league contract. There is so much upseid to the guy, I think he is at least worth a look. Maybe even convert him to a closer.

We would still have Santana, Saunders and Weaver plus Adenhart had a 5.70 era in the minors.

Honestly, I don't think Wood will ever hit MLB pitching.
Perfect fit for the Pad's.
Let's make this happen.
