Yeah, Magic, great player, bad coach. He can't finish a sentence without stopping or mumbling

Mike D'antoni FTW!!!

nah i honestly think it would be Shaw to replace em but if l.a. wins this or next or both years he will keep coaching
Im still a Trevor Ariza Fan, Thanks For The Championship.

He may not of. That said i don't think it affects this season. It may be a motivating factor for next season with the players. I think it may bring a sense of urgency to the players knowing they only have this season and next with PJ.

He's extremely sarcastic, I think a lot of times he'll say some things just because it's funny, and I know people take it and run with it, then try to think of different motives he might have all this other stuff, when he really just said something because that's his sense of humer. I think people make him out to be this chess-player person, but he's just having fun.

Brian Shaw or Byron Scott would make a good head coach.

I don't want Rambis as our head coach... he already had his try as head coach and our defense is still bad.

Did a miss a reply somewhere? The OP says he may retire, while the title says he will... Please change the title to prevent any confusion...

"may retire"

That's an awfully big 3-letter word there.

Magic made a terrible coach and admitted himself that his temperament doesn't suit the position.

The job is Shaw's to take or turn down.

I'll worry about it when the time comes, right now its even more reason to enjoy what the Lakers have going right this minute. But really "may" just means an extra mil on the end of a negotiating contract can erase any thought of leaving.

It is being reported that Phil Jackson has told Magic that he may retire after “next season.” It has been reported on 710 ESPN and is rumored to air Sunday during the Lakers/Spurs game.

There are a myriad of questions - who should be the next coach? Will this affect Kobe’s decision as a free agent this summer? This is definitely both a motivating and sad news that has us all thinking in Lakers Nation. How do you guys feel? 2 more titles and out? I could do with that…?

Ok, so where in that conversation does phil say hes gonna retire? The media is just blowing this up. Phil said "lets take it 1 year at a time." everbody needs to calm down phil is here for another season.

He may just be playing mind games with everbody and hes using this tactic cause he knows the media will take what he said and flip it up into a big story, basically using it to get the players to play better knowing they have a tough stretch of games on the road. I think its just phil being phil and the media or more so bspn trying to come up with something to garner attention since we all know bspn dont like the lakers.

From what I understood, he said he has one more year after this one, but I think he means he is taking things year by year, If he thinks he can win a couple more rings, I don't think he will leave so soon...
