I think a lot of us knew that Ariza had 9 career 3s before this season, but I looked for more details.

Pre-Lakers:
4-28, 14.3% shooting. 205 games played.
With Lakers (not counting today):
30-97, 30.9% shooting. 65 games played.

Damn son, why the sudden jump!? Did no one on his other teams tell him to practice shooting during the offseason, or do we have some secret?!

Reggie Miller just said on TNT he told him to practice last summer on his j, probably Craig Hodges worked with him.

Craig Hodges is our shooting coach and he was a good 3 point shooter in the NBA.

Hodges was better than good.

Didn't he set a record in the 3 point contest with only 1 miss? Something like that.

He won 3 straight and I think he scored like 19 in a row and holds the record for most points (25?)

Damn, why doesn't Bynum learn how to shoot 3s!? AHHH!

Ariza is playing more often, getting into a rhythm and he actually has a role right now. When he's out there he doesn't have to try and find his shot or create for himself.

But, he still isn't that good of a shooter. If he hasn't taken a couple of jays in the game he's hit the side of the backboard and airballed until he gets into a groove.

He always had a decent stroke, he just needed to practice it. Over the summer the coach asked him to work on his shot, #1 priority. His second priority was to gain muscle mass. He shot thousands of times over the summer and did improve his shot. He didn't change his mechanics, they were already there( AFAIK).

Priority #2, muscle mass didn't work out, as Trevor said he was even trying to eat all the fattening foods he could get his hands on. His metabolism is just on fire, he can't gain weight to save his life, LOL. I bet Glen Miller is jealous!
