I don't like when people think it will just ruin chemistry/cancer.. come on. We had Kobe, who wanted out.. what happened? We just player even better. Kobe and Shaq feuds.. what happened? We won championships. I can't see how one person who will just ruin the whole team. Where ever Marbury goes, it doesn't matter. But he wants to play.. that's enough for him to be effective.

marbury has never made a team better(maybe Phx), and to those who say he is a defensive upgrade I dont see how, Isiah BLASTED him for lack of commiment to the defensive side of the ball, i would rather Sun Yue than Marbury because, one will take ill-advised shots and one would take too many ill-adivised shots
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

Marbury has never been on a championship contender, I bet that'll change his ways.

Kobynum your first mistake is mistake is listening to anything Isiah has to say about a player. The guy's been a basketball dolt for years now. I wouldn't take him at his word about a player he likes let alone one he never got along with in the first place.

Second, Marbury, though not some all-world defensive stopper would be an upgrade over what the Lakers have defensively at the point right now.

Marbury can give Derek some rest and bolster the easily beaten point guard core for really cheap.

Its a worthwhile signing.

If you wouldn't sign him even if for a cheap price tag, then I really don't know what to say other than you probably have some weird personal grudge against him. Some guys aren't meant to be leaders, and Marbury is one of those people. But that doesn't change the fact that he has loads of talent, and that he would be an asset to this team off the bench. Even if it were true that he doesn't make his teammates better, that's not the reason why we would bring him in in the first place. Making teammates better is what our leaders are for (although the whole concept of making teammates better is a bit overblown IMO). LOL at taking Sun Yue over Stephen Marbury. That is just completely ridiculous and you know it. But if you don't know it, and actually believe that Sun Yue would actually be a bigger asset than a player like Marbury, then I really can't take your opinion seriously.

i'm going to simplify this

in marbury's prime he was a legitimate 20ppg 8apg guy. on a championship team if he gives us half of that the impact is beyond anything we've had before in the post-shaq era off the bench. he is a guy unlike odom who will make plays for the second unit and will be able to pick up the scoring slack when they aren't doing it.

he can play both PG and SG which is valuable and as i said he gives us half of what he produced in his prime 10ppg 4apg is great off the bench but it would probably be around 14ppg 4apg

could marbury be signed as a way to split time between 3 point guards giving each of them huge rest

think about it

farmar will be back in what a week maybe 2 and from then he has to get back in game shape and get his timing back.

marbury will have to learn the offense and get used to his teammates

fisher has played beyond way too many minutes for a 13 year veteran

i don't know if i see marbury taking a role like that but it is a possibility

I think Marbury could be something the Lakers need.

Imagine our second unit:

Gasol
Odom
Ariza
Sasha
Marbury

Thats a tough lineup to beat right there.

well i think that some guys bring too much media attention to teams, he's basically TO in the eyes of the media... like i said i rather a nobody for a cheap price tag, but i will admit that it has a CHANCE of working, because he really respects Kobe and I imagine Phil also

Wow the "smart guy" strikes again. You've been a member for barely a week and think you have everyone figured out? The fact that Boston wants him is even more reason to go after him, and that is added to the fact that he has loads of talent that would be an asset to any team that is not in need of a leader.
