Why aren't we dominating the boards with two 7-footers on the floor?

I don't know that many teams with such a big lineup. Bynum is like 7'1, Gasol is 7'0 and even Radmanovic is like 6'10. When the season started, I thought for sure that we would be dominating the boards with this lineup. It's pretty frustrating, considering last night Orlando converted on most of their offensive rebounds and Lakers could barely touch an offensive board. I guess part of that must be boxing out...I remember defensive rebounds from Orlando where they had almost their whole team boxing out players, and not one of our Lakers would have even been close to getting the rebound. Overall, though, I can see why Orlando has such a good record and is such a good team. Dominant big man, along with great 3-point shooters that will knock down shots off of a double team on him, something similar to the old Lakers team with Shaq. Something I thought I was gonna see with Bynum, but isn't really happening.

Soft 7 footers don't limit Duncan to 20 points on 19 FGA

For Bynum it's because he doesn't have confidence in his knee to battle for position or jump in crowded areas.

Gasol's rebounding is fine.
Gooden>> Lamar Odom. Mo Williams>> Ray Allen>> Gasol. Nene= Gasol.

Because the center is lazy on the boards.

Gasol is rebounding fine, it's BYNUM that's not doing a thing.

Bynum boxes out, but then he either doesn't know where the hell the ball is, or he just doesn't jump...and that hurts Gasol.

Gasol's rebounding is not fine, though. If you're going to look at his numbers, look at the teams he's getting those against. I remember the Kings and the Heat, the Warriors and Pacers, all being teams he pulled down double-digits against. How about letting me know how many he got against the Spurs the other night? How many did he give up to Dwight last night? Against Oden and Aldridge in that Portland game at the beginning of the year, how many did Gasol get? How many did he get on Christmas, against Perkins and the Celtics?

Look up all of those games, please...then get back to me.

True, but Bynum is getting even less, and that cannot be like that. Wouldn't you think?

Bynum should actually be grabbing just as many boards as Pau, and if he played as many minutes, then more. He's thicker and stronger.

But I'm not Kareem, so I don't know what all he's teaching them.

I don't expect both to grab ten a game, but consistency is nice. Gasol will grab 10-15 against small teams, then go out and give us 3-5 against guys like Duncan and Shaq.

And this is all while Kobe is ripping down more rebounds than Bynum in the last four or five games, and is less than a hundred away from Bynum's season total after almost a half a season has been played.

You better explain to me when Andris Biedrins, David Lee, Andrew Bogut, and Troy Murphy all turned black and ended up being four of the ten best rebounders in the NBA right now (with Biedrins at three, Lee at five).

I think Bynum is having a hard time playing with Gasol another big man. I say bring him off the bench and start LO to shake things up. Anything to get Andrew going.
"The way Steve is as a teammate, the way he sets the tone, the way the team kind of takes on his persona. As a coach, that's the best thing in the world. It's easy to coach. He's taking care of the chemistry. You just coach."

Bynum is going threw Dwight Howard syndrome thinking putting up points makes you a good player, don't worry he'll get through it
