Yeh, I was pretty sure that there were no real translations for those since I asked my friends about it and they had no idea what I was talking about. :lol:Ok I get what you guys are getting at. Let me try to rectify that. The translator is just doing literal translation.
Ok let me try and get this straight, the use of 'ever' and literal translation into 曾經 is really weird to say....cos we wouldn't say it that way.
Traditional and Simplified are just as it means, simplifying how the traditional words are written. And as 泉 has pointed out, it's used in different regions. In Singapore, it's simplified, but I prefer traditional over simplified as it is more 'beautiful'. So what Alx has posted before and after, is the same really.
And no, 泉, your translation for both traditional/simplified 神戶最佳曾經 is technically wrong. Basically, there is no real translation for this, it's what translators come out with differently, but I can assure you, no chinese will say that as what you guys think it means.
神戶 遊戲 達到 世界 和平 等 - This is very odd. Ok, 神戶 refers to Japan's state: Kobe, which yes, is the same as our Kobe, that's how 神戶牛肉 Kobe Steak comes about. The latter words are translated as "game reaches world..." Ok here's the contradicting part. 和平 is peace. 等 itself doesn't mean anything. But if put together - 世界和平等 means "World and Equality". In short, if I were to really translate what you wanted, it should be "Kobe's Game reaches World Standard". There is some error in the words used, and they are used wrongly of course.
I wouldn't exactly say Equality somewhat means Peace....the meaning is kinda mixed up...
"Kobe is the greatest ever" is hard to translate to chinese seriously, I wouldn't say that in chinese either...so let's keep to that shall we?
/cheers to this lesson from a Chinese from Singapore
