Hey guys, does anyone else think he's sending a message with the productive playing time he's been given since vlad has been playing horrible and since odom has been out?

I know its only been a few games but.. everyones sleeping on Josh Powell.
The man has practically stepped his game up a level since odom's been gone.
Shooting great from the field, rebounding, blocking shots.
But most importantly he is showing HUSTLE. He wants to win, he is hungry and i think he's doing a great job so far.

Anyone else noticed this and impressed by his play as of late?

When LO is healthy, the rotation is this:

AB or Pau or AB
Pau or LO or LO

Unless there is foul trouble, Pow will rarely see action due to the 2nd and 3rd lineup on the right. Substitution pattern is THAT flexible.

If there's serious foul trouble, we may see this:

LO
Pow

What Pow can do is to keep himself fresh and be available whenever he is called upon. We like his hustle, what he brings to us on the rebounding, his shooting is another invaluable asset but not necessarily what we need, thus it's a bonus.

And yes, I'm impressed about his recent play, and that's what he can do to help us at this point of time.

Maybe, Phil can see that he can play LO abit less and put Pow in more...this is all a possibility, but let Phil decide on that. He isn't necessarily sending any message, just doing what he is supposed to be doing when he is called upon. :D

Sending a message?

I don't think so. The guy is just this good. He's a solid bench player that would get time on any team.

Right now he's just being a pro and stepping up when the team needs him.

Yep, let's not downplay his game by saying he's playing well to send a message. We can expect this every night from him, whether he plays 5 minutes or 25 minutes. The guy is just a good, hard-working player.

I'm not impressed with his defense, but his rebounding and ability to hit the midrange is excellent. He should get more playing time.

Is it already the time of the month to bump the Josh Powell thread? Thing should be stickied by now, haha. He isn't sending a message; he's doing what he needs to do to help us win. Isn't that what every player is supposed to do?

Of course he's sending a message. There's no other reason he's playing well, he has to be sending a message. If it was a normal circumstance, he would suck as usual.

I'm not surprised by Powell's play, we've seen this before when he was a Clipper. That's why we traded for him. Powell will, however most likely end up biding time on the bench while LO finishes off his career here.

The reason I don't see a Pau/LO starting unit is that we need Pau/LO on that second unit. Remember how our second unit was killing the opposition, opposing teams second units were either getting crushed, or their starters got most of the minutes and by the second half their outside shots(which we tend to give up in this offense) were coming up short.

Powell was clutch tonight,

he's basically been a skinnier, more athletic version of Gasol without the post up game.

and that's something entirely different from what Odom brings to the 4

After his solid game versus the Spurs he should of got some pt yesterday, it made no sense to not give him a shot since the rest of Frontcourt gave up 20 boards to Howard.

I know seriously. We should have at least give him a shot. Maybe in the Cavs game he will get an opportunity.
