BREAKING NEWS: Fisher hurt – tear of a tendon in right foot

The injuries keep happening and happening. D-Fish, like Kobe, will play through it. Heart above health.

L.A. Times: Lakers guard Derek Fisher has sustained a partial tear of a tendon in his right foot, an injury that typically requires six to eight weeks of rest, but he will try to play through it.

Fisher was injured while trying to push off the foot in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against Charlotte.

“If this happened during the middle of the season or something like that, he would probably rest for six to eight weeks in order to heal,” Lakers spokesman John Black said. “It’s a pain and inflammation thing. If he can play, he’ll be on anti-inflammatory and pain medication and try to play through it.”

Screw the injuries, its part of the game, if you can play, play through it. Don’t let the season and all the hardwork we’ve done go down the drain. If Kobe can play with a major injury on his shooting hand then dammit everyone should play through their injuries. Gasol if you can jog get then back on the court, Ariza if your foot don’t hurt then put on your damn jersey and get on the bench, Mihm stop acting like your collecting unemployment and go earn your millions instead of sitting on your azz, Bynum, your freakin 20 years old not 40, does your body really take this long to heal, if you feel you can play, then force management to let you back on the court. This years Western Conference is the toughtest it has ever been and we need everybody to play with all their heart and give it all they got even if their not 100%. Their could be changes in the off season and this team might not be together next year so everyone should give it their all the rest of the year! Fish, do what you gotta do to keep playing because we need you down the stretch. This could be one of the greatest seasons in Laker History with the Lakers beating Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. EVERYONE NEEDS TO MAN THE F U C K UP! THE TIME IS NOW!

I would sit Fish til the playoffs. The only reason I really want the Lakers to get the first seed is so Kobe has a better chance to win mvp. Besides that I really think the seedings dont matter that much in the West this year even though I would love to somehow play Dallas in the first round.

    • DCLAKER

I’m starting to think it’s probably best we become Championship contenders rather than winning it all ’cause this season everybody’s banged up and that’s not good heading towards the playoffs but the upside is,and I need LAKERNATION to think for a minute, yeah,The Lakers team is hurt but at least we’ll have the right pieces in place for a 70 or 72 game season next yr.

The Basketball Gods themselves are really watching over this team, especially with ULTRA – IMPROVED play of “The Game” Andrew Bynum, then when he went down The Bench Mobb took over and getting Pau!Pau!Pau!Gasol was the icing on the cake….but then LO took it to another level asking for the ball more and SUCCEEDING(21 REBOUNDS,WOW)and you can’t forget the return of “Mr.0.4″ himself DF and when you have the best player in the game today,”The Mamba”, Dr.24,The Assassin, and LAKERNATION OWN MVP!MVP!MVP!KOBE,you get the usual,CHAMPIONSHIPS!

The pressure is not on the Lakers to win it all as much as it is for Boston or PHX because AGE has set in on these teams and they only have a 1,2 or 3 yr. chance to get it. The Lakers are straight for about 10 yrs or more,BELEE DAT!

    • drake hunter

History has repeated it’s self every year for the Lakers from Kobe to LO to Bynum to Mihm to Walton and even Kwame. A key player always get a major injury every year and changes the season dramatically. Someones prolly gonna get really hurt next year again also. Victory will be more sweet for the Lakers to win it all now when the Celtics or Spurs or Phoenix is trying to risk it all to win now because their window of opportunity is shrinking year by year only to have the Lakers who are set for at least the next 5 years to take it away from them and win the championship.

    • aibarra03

Although I would love everybody to “man up” like Kobe, I’m glad everyone is getting healthy for the playoffs. Not everyone can play through injuries the way kobe does, thats why he’s kobe. If we want to win it all this year, we need everyone playing their best %100

    • Mr. Juan / Your Warlock

Maybe, this could be the type of injury (similar to an exterior cut) that has the potential to heal, while you still play the game, for only 20 to 30 minutes per game….Resting, still includes walking, moving around, putting pressure and weight on the foot, constantly….Maybe?

Umm there’s a huge difference between playing with an injured finger and an injured foot/ankle. Just because you have a hurt finger doesn’t mean you can’t play defense, run up and down the court, jump, etc. It’s kind of hard to do that when your constantly putting pressure on an injured ankle/foot. As for Bynum, yes, he is young. His injury is one that I have never seen before, and obviously, it was serious enough that he’s being kept out until it’s 100%. The thing about a young body is yes, it can heal fast, but it can still be permanently damaged. Hence, the extended healing time. Obviously, the management is thinking of the future as well. Yes, the Western Conference is extremely tough. That being said, the only way to win this year is to have EVERYONE at least 90% healthy, if not 100%. Ever hear of the phrase “Kick ‘em when they’re down”? That’s exactly what teams will do to us if we’re not healthy. Please think before you post an emotionally charged, ignorant comment as you have done so above.[Comment ID #30906 Will Be Quoted Here]

Sorry about the double quote. ‘Twas an accident.

    • Neo-Laker Era

      Oh, and one more thing:

There is no other Kobe. Not even LBJ could play injured. Kobe’s play has not diminished since his injury, hence no dire need to sit out and heal. That is just simply not the case with other players.

    • west213

there goes the lakers seaso. ppl just go heal and come back next season. tooooooo many injuries, kobe, bynum, gasol, fish, luke…

So your telling me its worth it for Kobe to go out and risk it all on the hand that he shoots the basketball with, the hand he plays relentless defense with, the hand that gets slapped by defenders night in and night out when he drives to the basket yet his injury is different from everyone because he’s Kobe. For all we know his finger is F’ckd up and he could have made it worse for not having surgery and may have prolonged the recovery process in the offseason. My comments were based on footage of Bynums workout and Gasol’s practice session and Ariza’s comments. Please refrain from calling people ignorant when your just too blind to grasp the concept of whats actually going on. My comments stated for the players to be 90% healthy. I cleary stated that none of them were gonna come back 100% until they can fully re-hab in the offseason. Now if you were able to ready you probably would have understood that in my comments. If your leader is setting the tone for the rest of the season, everyone else should fall in line. Based on your comments, if players get injured during the season, they might as well never come back until the next season. What are you gonna do if Bynum gets hurt next year? Sit him out for full recovery again? The guy looks fine in the video get his azz back on the court and Gasol too. I rather have them both not at 100% than not have them at all. THE TIME IS NOW!

What is wrong with you??? I never said a word to you. Perhaps your alittle upset with that tirade you had earlier. Relax, i know your still upset at Bynum for not getting healthy again. Do you want to trade him AGAIN FOR JO??? PLEASE DON’T PLAY GM AGAIN NOR TRY TO BE BYNUM’S DOCTOR OR COACH. YOU REALLY HATE BYNUM DON’T YOU????

    • Neo-Laker Era

Just because a player isn’t feeling pain does NOT mean they are ready to play. As we all know, playing in a game is very different from rehabing or working out. The reason I called your comment ignorant was because you said “SCREW THE INJURIES!” Kobe is taking a huge risk by playing with his busted finger. He has been able to play through it, so he gets to play. And I believe he knows how to keep that finger out of danger. It’s kind of hard to keep a foot/ankle out of danger when you’re RUNNING on it.

I don’t like watching the Lakers lose. But if they have to lose some to gain a lot more, I’ll gladly take it, i.e. losing a few games here and there to make sure we’re fully strengthened for the playoffs? You bet your @ss I’d take it.

Your so emotionally charged that it makes you abit Psycho. Just relax. West213 needs some help he seems not to be able to create a post by himself. I think he wants to ride your Short coattails. It won’t get him very far though.

The lakers are fine. No need to rush them back. Use common sense. You make these comments without any thought. Don’t be ignorant. Even Kobe said these things and we know you want to please Kobe. The same way you pleased your prisons buddies.

Really rediculous to speculate that the Lakers future looks good for the next 5-10 years. Is KB still gonna be playing at age 39??? Father Time takes it’s toll even on the great ones. Look at MJ, Magic, & Bird. With the way this YOUNG team has problems staying healthy it’s not going to get any better when they start hitting their 30′s. With the salary cap and free agency it’s impossible to say this team presently constructed will even be together 5 years from now.

    • Mr. Juan / Your Warlock

I know one thing is for damn sure, BigFour2K8 will be around a whole lot longer than BigThree2k8…. KB,AB,PG,LO
