It looks like Fisher wants to finish his career as a Laker; despite this summer the Lakers having 3 free agents in Farmar, Brown, Fish.

L.A. Times: Fisher, who will be 36 next season, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.  Fisher has been on record saying he wants to continue his career with the Lakers. He’s in the last year of a deal that pays him $5.048 million.

I say we keep Fisher and let him finish out as a Laker. We need to get a good starting point guard during the off season if we decide not to keep Brown/Farmar. Fisher has done so much for this franchise and I was sick seeing him in that Utah uni. He’ll need to keep getting rings too because we will be Champs in ’10 and ’11! Go Lakers!

    for how much?

I would like to keep fish but i would say pay him the league minimum after this season

  • gus26

the vet min… and not a dollar more.. too bad he can’t pay the lakers to be on the team… the way he’s been playing…
if he honestly thinks he should get more than the min… he can go chuck shots without having numbers.. commit bad fouls, get carreer number dumped in his face and miss layups looking for contact on another team

I hope it’s not for the veterans minimum. Fish has been tremendous for the Lakers and we all appreciate everything he’s done, but I’m going to say no unless we pay him an low salary.

so he has been playing for free??!!… no he got paid when he was “tremendous” for us.. and just cuz they don’t pay him now doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate everything he has done..
vet min or he can sign somewhere else…

How soon people forget. Gratitude is fleeting at least in this time & age. I have nothing but respect for D Fish and if the lakers decide to keep him thats there choice and no one elses since no one on this blog pays his salary and do not give me that the Fans pay his salary crap, ( that sht is old & tired ) you got what you payed for when you go to games for entertainment & buy team merchandise. Like on any job the customer provides the money to a Company who in turn pays you. Stay as long as you can Fish. Like with any other Laker player i just hope he has a good night and hate it when he does’nt. Like some of you i do not go head hunting with childish & immature statements.

Very nicely put! – My thoughts exactly!!

Besides, if Kobe is out and it comes down to the last seconds of the game, I definitely want the ball in Fisher’s hand because he is the most clutch in the group (other than the Kobster!)

I am not one of apparently the many so-called “LAKER FANS” who want to can Fisher already! – All of us have good days and bad days. Just because he is getting older does not mean that we have to send him out to the pasture already.

It really amazes me how soon people forget what he has done to contribute to this team! – Let him stay and finish his career with the Lakers where he so rightfully belongs!

If he retires after this season, he’ll have finished his career as a Laker :D
