HOOPSWORLD.COM: Anderson Varejao … The days of the Justin (American Idol 1) Guarini comparisons are long gone, as Varejao spent the past year proving he can stick in this league. Not only hang with the big boys, but get to the NBA Finals in just his third year in the league. He’s also stepped out of fellow countryman Leandro Barbosa’s shadow with a 6.8 points, 6.7 rebounds season, and similar showing (6.0 and 6.0) in the playoffs. But, it’s the untraceable stats that will get him the next contract. Like Pavlovic, Varejao’s been offered a multi-year deal by the Cavs, but is trying to see if he can do better. Suns? Spurs? Mavericks? How about the injury-prone Lakers? Remembering, though, that the Cavs can match, if they so choose.
