Andrew Bynum was told about the Bynum for Chris Bosh rumors; glad to hear this from Drew; he played extremely well vs. the Bucks!

ESPN: But Bynum says there wasn’t any extra motivation.

“What rumor is that?” Bynum asked when he was questioned if the trade speculation had sparked him to play the way he did on Sunday.

When he was told it was for Bosh, a four-time All-Star and Olympic gold medal-winning teammate of Bryant, he replied with his patented phrase:

“Oh, that’s crazy.”

Is it that crazy?

The Post story quotes Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo as “not seeking a deal or discussing Bosh with any team, much less the Lakers,” but wouldn’t it be crazier for Toronto to wait around and hope that Bosh doesn’t opt out of the final year of his contract this summer instead of shipping him for a sure thing before the Feb. 18 trade deadline?

“I don’t even care,” Bynum said. “I love playing basketball. I’ll play this game anywhere. It’s not the first time that it’s happened to me, so I’m used to it.”

I dont get why many hate on Bynum. Whether he plays bad or not, he is one of my favorite centers in the game today (Dwight, Shaq, Bynum). Hes a great guy, and is still a kid, give him more time to adjust, he has been doing well in the 5 years here already, hes got more to learn.

  • Karim

Come on guys, this trade would be very, very payfull for the Lakers. Andrew has inclinable to new injuries, who can guarantee tha he will he play in February?? Chris is the first class, kind of player that we need.

    • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Bosh isnt the “triangle” type of player. Bring in Bosh you take out the Triangle. You wanna risk that, seeing how the triangle has won 4 championships for the Lakers. Keep Bynum, you keep the triangle. By the way, Bynum has a long way to go, and he will stay in LA, its that simple. Although Raptors would want Bynum, Lakers wouldnt want to give him up despite what was said above. By the way, he NEVER did say WHO the LAKER source WAS. I could say right now that a Laker source told me that they are trading the bench for Kwame. Who said it? Who knows. Is it true? With the offers, HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Will it be a move the Lakers will regret? HELL YEAH THEY WILL!

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Its kinda sad though that they would tell him about this even though its not confirmed. He’d be crushed thinking “if its true, they wanna get rid of me, if its not true, why did my name come up, do they really want to get rid of me?” Its kinda sad telling someone they are getting traded when they are doing so well, the media shouldnt say anything but the agent should be the one telling it when its said and done. The media has no part of the GM’s business and no part of the players’ business so they should just stick their noses out of it. This is what they do when they are not coveting Lebron?

    • WifelovesLuke

      Not sad…..just business.

      • Green Flannel

it could easily affect the way someone plays “they dont want me? why should i play well at all? Im gonna be gone soon.”

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

empty headed and andrew bynum kind of go together…just another los angeles laker.

  • Swirsky’s Soldier

a few things as a Raps fan here:

“wouldn’t it be crazier for Toronto to wait around and hope that Bosh doesn’t opt out of the final year of his contract this summer ”

lets reverse this… and say it was Kobe Bryant. Would you trade him for, lets say, Kevin Martin? Or would you chance keeping him? People do realize that Bosh has never once stated that he wants out of Toronto, or has there been any evidence of Bosh wanting out except for random comments by ‘analysts’ with no evidence to back it up. Its purely assumptions.

    “Although Raptors would want Bynum”

Do you really think that? I have no problem with Bynum, but if it means giving up Bosh no thanks. Seriously how long until his next injury? Or how well will those knees hold up 2-3 years down the road?

  • Varick Hudson

In My opinion this trade rumor is all A## backwords. I stated in a previous post that “Brad Miller Or Chris Bosh” Would be a better fit than Pau Gausol. I know most every Lakers fan except for myself feel this way about Gasol that he is the 2nd coming, to me he is not all that. He just is not in my opinion. Just look at him now breaking down and beat up pretty much before the season got started. Andrew Bynum on the other hand is the Lakers future, once Kobe has retired he will be the next Lakers Phenom. Not Pau Gasol.

    • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Dude, thats cause Pau has played practically 3 seasons straight. 2007-2008 + finals, Olympics, 2008-2009 + finals, then Euroleague, that drained his legs and they caught up with him. Besides this is probably the worst injury he has received as a Laker and this is nothing!

    • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Do you know how many teams would want Pau, even IF he is breaking down? They would call Mitch in a heartbeat. Pau is not breaking down. Give him time to recover.

      • JerryWest

Actually more teams would want Bynum so they could build around him.

  • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

Bynum cant play with Pau thats the problem . He cant get involved his footing is horrible.
Phil expressed two years ago Bosh would look good in a laker uniform. HUMM whats that tell ya.
Bynum is young yes but not motivated ,has no desire, no heart he will never pan out . The guy is Elden Campell 2 or Benoit . Old man Howard in Portland played harder than this kid.
As far as a point guard CP3 will be around Shannon is getting better Howard in sac town .Mitch will trade Bynum becuz old man Buss sees him as a strain on the payroll. And Kobe hates this idiot

    • WifelovesLuke

Speculation and opinion……gotta love the internet

  • Taylor

Mitch wont trade Drew, he wouldnt trade him for Kidd years ago, now bynum has gotten a lot better. They should look at Jose Calderon instead

    • Jonathan

seriously? Jose Calderon, the man who is averaging 13 points 5 dimes per game? No Thanks.

TLN Fans are unbelievably stupid… They want 3 all star PFs (Lamar Odom is an all star quality powerforward – I don’t care what you guys say).

But ok, let say we do trade Bynum for bosh. We have NO Guarantee that Bosh is going to re-sign with the lakers. Now, you may say, “He will because the lakers will win a championship!!”
However, the Lakers cannot afford 3 Max contracts (Kobe, Bosh,, and Gasol), and thus I am sure the Knicks, Heat, or possibly the Thunder will be happy to offer Bosh a max deal, thus say goodbye to Bosh. Money does not grow on trees (even for Jerry Buss).

      • Geloman

I don’t care what anyone says, if ANY player has an opportunity to get a MAX contract or more money in this economy they’re gonna jump at the chance. Look at Ariza. So if the Lakers trade Bynum for Bosh, we have him for 40 games as a third option, he becomes an unrestricted free-agent in the summer, gets a MAX offer elsewhere where he can also be the #1 option, he bails on the Lakers and we lose him and our budding center in Bynum. We end up with nothing for the future and all this means, the Lakers are screwed. Think about it. This is what these dumba** reporters who fabricate these rumors are looking for, BUZZ! They want people to be talking about this on blogs, forums, etc.. They’re getting what they want.

    • Taylor

Theyre gonna hav to draft or trade for a pg. Farmar wont be back, Fish wont start. Id rather hav an experienced starter than a rook.

      • Jonathan

no 1st round pick this year, we sent it in the Gasol deal. We do, however, get Memphis’s 2nd rounder, which should be around 40th overall.
Again though, I doubt we even pick there, probably sell the pick for 1.5M or something like that.

  • Varick Hudson

Duuuddddee Daaaaaa, Its like I said, he is not all that! You can make all the excuses for him you want. As far as I am concerned Gasol is OK to have on the team. But he is not the Lakers’ future. Bynum Is. And all the negative things you all are saying about him now it won’t matter. I promise, you will be eating crow very soon in the future for saying them.

    • Up and Under

I don’t know what makes you think that Gasol is OK. We were no where near Championship quality two years ago, when he came and took us to the finals, TWO YEARS IN A ROW!

You said, “Just look at him now breaking down and beat up pretty much before the season got started.”

Please find out how many games Andrew missed in the last two seasons and how many games Pau missed. I don’t know if I will be eating crow very soon in the future, but I am definitely eating you for lunch.

    Marwan’s got it right!
1.) Bosh for Bynum is not a good trade!
2.) Gasol is way more important to our team than Bynum at this point!
    Also Lakertildeath is right too!
3.) Need point guard, not a center.

Bynum’s already in the triangle offense and knows how to move and operate in it. Think about it, he’s always catching the ball with 7 feet of the basket and do you guys realize how many of his made shots are dunks or within 2 feet after the catch?

Plus Bynum’s used to be in a system in which he needs to share the ball. The only thing that Bynum needs to imporve on is being more active and grabbing boards instead of being a spectator! Last night’s 18 boards was great, but he needs to parlay that into his game when Gasol gets back.

Bosh, on the other hand, is used to being the man and when he realizes that he’s not in the triangle offense, all of his numbers including his overall game will slip! The triangle forces people to adjust their game. Kobe had to when Shaq was the man, and now everyone else has to with Kobe being the man. The guy who’s made the best adjustment is PAU GASOL. His numbers are virtually the same now as they were when he was on Memphis! Think about how many LESS touches he gets now than before! This guy is that good and that valuable to the Lakers! Don’t forget that or take it for granted! There’s NO WAY that we should trade a legit potent center in Bynum for the Ru Paul of centers in Bosh, much less considering a swap for our Matador in Pau!

And lastly, Lakerstildeath is right in that we need a point! Not necessarily a point guard in the traditional sense. We’re in desperate need of a speedy defensive-minded point guard that can keep the likes of Aaron Brooks, and Jared Bayless somewhat in check. Because these little speed demons keep killing us when they drive into the paint! So the focus should be on the point and not on the center!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanhttrinh

because he heard about the trade to get Chris Bosh, thats why he played good last night, and said: “i like to play basketball no matter anywhere ” really ? he plays ball with no passion and obviously shown no heart, he could laughing on the bench we lakers down by 20+ and shown no responsible
again, we need the guy who can dominate the post every single night, and is play with a purpose, to win every game

  • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

Dude your right when this punk was looking for a big contract he played hard now just collects a check.
Yeah he had 19 boards but Milwuke is horrible.
What about the clipper game and portland.
Dude is a ball less bitch 7 ft PUSSY hear that Bynum PUSSY thats what you are ass hole.

    • LakersFirst

Typical, how little you know about basketball. Your name should be “dumbest laker fan in L.A.” Bynum is a player that can and will average a double double in his career. The ONLY reason he isn’t right now, is because Pau Gasol is the #2 option, and Gasol should be the #2 option.

Don’t you notice that when Gasol is out, Bynum gets his double double? Do you know why this is? It is because, my dumitwitted friend, there is only so much of the baseketball that can go around. You can’t expect Bynum to average a double double when Gasol (another 7 footer) is the #2 option (IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN). But you see it as Bynum, is a p*ssy. Unfortunately, you’re too dumb to realize that when Gasol is in the linup, Bynum’s numbers are going to suffer.

Now, the ONLY reason the Lakers make this trade is to alleviate salary, that would be it. To be honest, it makes no sense. Bosh, making $16M this year, can opt out after this season. If he does get traded to the Lakers this season, he most likely will not opt out (he is set to make $17M next season), so the Lakers would have to pay $3M in salary (plus $3M more for luxury tax) if they end up stuck with Bosh for next season.

Furthermore, Bosh is NOT a true center. He is a power forward player, very similar to Gasol and if you don’t think Bosh’s numbers will drop when he has to share the ball with Kobe and Pau, then you’re smoking heavy chronic. Bosh isn’t even that great of a defender. I think he’s only averaging 1 block per game this season.

      This trade makes no sense.

      • bostonSUCKS88

Completely agree. Glad to see there are still a few sane fans still on TLN. This trade would not work. AB is averaging 15 and 8 as the 3rd option. Bosh would probably average the same thing as the 3rd option for the lakers. AB is bigger, better defender, and more potential.

      • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

ASSHOLE when is this double double going to happen ?
The only double double he knows is in and out burger.
Your banking on a kid with no balls maybe you and him have that in common

        • Geloman

Hahaha. This girl is funny and dumb. I totally agree with LakersFirst. Bynum was averaging 21 and 11 before Pau came back from his inury early in the season. And this is behind Kobe and with Artest and Odom eating up boards and shots. I doubt Bosh can do that as a second option in the triangle. Another thing is, what’s the gaurantee that Bosh will fit in well in the offense and be happy as the third option. This is a top 10 player in the league easy. He’s not gonna be happy playing third fiddle to Kobe and Pau. His stats are gonna be slashed in half if he plays for the Lakers. I gaurantee it. And he’s going to end up leaving for a team where he can be the #1 option and that can pay him max money. And we’ll just end up with nothing. THINK!!

we’d all love that.if it could happen.but we gotta be the office needs to be serious.. but id love to see that deal happen

  • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

The reason why there is talk I is Phil like Bosh.
Remember he said he would look good in a Laker uniform.
We all know that Bynums numbers drop when Pau is in the game . But when he s not Bynum never calls for the ball and is not aggressive never battles for position
you really think Kobe dosent see that?
May be if Laker first would get his boyfriends dick out of his mouth to watch clearly whats going on.
Laker first money isnt a issue for the Buss family winning is a issue.
And Bynum isnt making this team better .He is a pussy
with no heart and desire just like LAKER FIRST.

    • JerryWest

Money is always an issue for those who have to spend it. For the typical fan they don’t care. What do you think Kobe thought when he was injured last game and Bynum carried the team. You don’t think he saw that?

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Ok for those who want Bynum to go, read this. Bill Simmons reported that Lakers are in talks of a deal that would send Bynum, Vujacic and Morrison over to Toronto for Bosh and Banks.
    I dont want this trade.

    • daboss1848

Sources from both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors insist there have been no talks between the two clubs regarding an Andrew Bynum-for-Chris Bosh swap.

The Lakers view the 22-year-old Bynum as a key building block and a player whose best years are ahead of him. And Toronto has thus far been steadfast in its stance not to entertain trading Bosh this season.

(notice there was no rumor or chatter of any deals before – lakers work behind closed doors in absolute silense – there are no lakers sources.

  • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

good trade Bosh may take less next year.
Not to mention Pau can play cener or Lamar move Bosh to forward and we will win three more Championships easy,
Phil like Bosh remeber he got fined for saying Bosh would look good in a Laker uniform

    • daboss1848

PJ loved Bosh . . . but that was pre-Pau.

  • JerryWest

It seems like Andrew was just surprized by the question so he said “Oh, That’s crazy”.

  • onlyone laker fan in L.A.

Ands got bad knees no balls rew is a fucking idiot thats why he was surprised.
Plus he has that ass hole david lee as a agent.
Drew is good against weak as centers but when its big players he runs and hides . Its called boy man syndrome.
Many big athletes do this. He will never be the star everyone hope for.
He has bad knees and no balls.
Trade this piece of shit if its true for D howard and a scrub
Bynum is like a ferrari nicely parked in the garage but when your ready to drive it it wont start or runs like shit.
    Great example

    • izzy 24

haha shut the fuck up already stop hating on Drew that foo is the shizz nit yes has his bad games but he is a lottery pick he can live up to his potential

  • BigBottomBry

A Bynum for Bosh trade DOES NOT make the Lakers a better squad. Dominant big men are rare in this league and Drew is a TRUE center with so much game left in his 22 year old body that any team would take a chance on adding him to their roster. He improves every year. Bosh is what he is, a power forward with a good mid range game and average defense. He’s not even that tough. He is not a center and niether is Pau. Who would our center be, DJ Mbenga? Besides, the back court and bench is where we need help, not the front court.

  • Razkal

We don’t need to trade any of our big men. We have size that is unmatched. What we need to do is get e real point guard who can drive to the basket, hit outside shots consistantly and not allow every point guard in the league to get their career high against them! Fisher must go! He does nothing but run down the floor and stand in the corner waiting for his shot, that he only hits toward the end of games. Brown is better than Fisher, Farmar and Vujacic!
