Yahoo! Sports: Long accustomed to waiting on Andrew Bynum(notes), the Los Angeles Lakers could be without their starting center for the first month of the season.

Bynum said Saturday during the Lakers’ media day that he doesn’t expect to be back playing until late November. Bynum had surgery on his right knee on July 28 and said he needs to rest his leg for another four weeks before he can even begin working out in earnest.

The Lakers open their season Oct. 26 against the Houston Rockets.

“I see more towards the end of November,” Bynum said. “The doctors are telling me this could be somewhere around there. There’s no exact date.”

Stupid Bynum if we dont 3peat Im blaming it all On bynum !!

    • KB24venom

the only person on this team that is allowed to halt surgery an go to the world cup is kobe. that should be bynums least concern ,getting surgery and being ready for the START of the season should be his main concern . he still has so much to prove to the org. and the fans , i’m tired of defending this guy to my fellow bynum critics.he’s so big and strong he should be honing that skill that will make him elite . seems to me we have a possible shq o’niel on our hands the way he shows no sense of urgency.

  • F__K That!

I wish him best but seriously this is an ongoing situation that seems to never end.
He for sure doesn’t deserve the money he is making.

idk about u guys but i think we should sign dampier cuz bynum is always injured and dampier is a defensive minded center plus he doesnt like shaq!!!

  • sancho

I am very saddened by this news.

  • harmony_smurf

Too many times we wasted a good opportunity to trade this Bum! My fear is the rest of the league has realized it also. Hopefully the nuggets are desperate and give up Carmelo for this Bum and some change.

Oh be careful, Marwan & the fat guy will talk down on you for that one!

  • rondo

I really laugh at guys who call rich people stupid.
i laugh even more when someone call a rich guy a bum
I get a kick out of seeing guys who have no money or
power. say this guy don’t deserve what they have.
If you did not give it to him what does it matters to you.
People who talk like that come off as being jealous. One thing we must learn everything is not for you.

    • ByTheBeardofZeus

I have money. I can tell you without a doubt that a lot of rich people are stupid. There is not a positive correlation between wealth and brains. They are not demigods that you should worship because they have money. On the contrary, they deserve and require the same amount of respect and criticism you would afford a man of any economic standing. Why would you get a kick out of a poor man criticizing a rich man? You’re a tool.

this is what ive been thinking of lately im tired of always seeing bynum injured yes i know what ur thinking hes only 22 n has a lot of potential but when r we gonna see that …so we should first of all sign dampier for the vet min. trade bynum, sasha(exp. contract), one of our rookies ebanks or caracter they both look like if they have talent and a first round pick and the lakers get melo (+extension), afflalo (defense + deadle from 3′s) salaries match n also since the nuggets want to lose jr smith will include him n trade ron artest thats if they want and both salaries match too …i know jr smith is a kobe hater but so was barnes n ron plus with the defense we got on the bench jr smith would be that explosiveness scoring we need..this trade makes sense for both teams n i think is fair cuz they both get equal talent for there players…we know kobe 1 or 2 great years left in the tank so where gonna need someone eventually and i say its melo cuz u know he doesnt want to go to the nets there weak they only have brooke lopez and melo will only sign with the knicks bulls or lakers…plz leave feedback i wanna know what u guys think!!!
    starters
    c-dampier, pf-gasol, sf-melo, sg-black mamba, pg-d-fish
    the real bench mob
c-ratliff, pf- L.O., sf- barnes, sf- artert or jr smith, sg-afflalo, sg-brown, pg-blake
    13th man – luke walton

I still don’t think Bynum is a ‘bust’, like Greg Oden. The latter (Oden) is more like a giant piece of glass, ready to break again at the stem.
    .
Bynum, on the other hand, had a few seasons in waiting before jumping in. In addition, although he is not the top center in the league, his presence in the post is essential on defense. Even if his legs are busted up, and he plays limited minutes, he can still be put into games and just concentrate on defense. That alone is worth a lot. If I were a coach, I would say that in his current condition, he should wander around the post (on offense), not worry about scoring, but rather draw defenders toward the paint, and let our mid-range/long-range shooters get open looks – or, create a path for slashers (I don’t think we have any slashers anymore, except for Kobe).
    .
Then, I would have him run down the court and be ready on defense to block shots, or clog up the paint. Just being there will make it harder for the other team’s slashers (e.g., DWade, LeBron). Stay just outside the paint, and then when the slasher starts his run, move to ‘just under’ the basket, left side or right side, throw up the arms, and start swatting. That’s it. That’s all we need him to do. Forget offense – focus on defense.

thats some TEAM GUY………….FIRE HIS LAZY ASS.

All talk and no action makes laffs atu a dull girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DJ Cro Pack Attak

NOW I hate this guy even more. I just listened to a podcast from media day regarding his surgery. Apparently, he’s going to be out later than expected as the doctor found more problems with the knee during the procedure. A journalist asked Bynum if he had known that the knee would take more time to heal would have he had had the surgery sooner and he responded, “NO”. He wanted to celebrate and vacation in Europe.

ANDREW BYNUM = NO DEDICATION…TRADE HIS ASS

    • bbz62

we should really trade him before the rest of the league realizes he’s to damn injury prone and his value sinks even further.

  • ByTheBeardofZeus

Seriously. Is he even worth anything in the trading market anymore? Are teams really going to take a risk on a perpetually injured big man. We should have traded him while there was still a glimmer of hope in other teams minds.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TLN24 Marwan Marzina

It’s better that he’s out late November rather than late May/ early June. We all know the season starts for the Lakers in April and ends in June.

  • 24allup inya

why am i not surprised? Bynum was in Cabo 2 weeks before Taining camp! yes he had surgey, but at least he should have been at home bench pressing and doing other things to come to camp in shape! no shocker there, there kid is not dedicated!!!!!!fuck u if u disagreeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Leaderrfish

Can we trade some laker fans for some OKC fans? I would rather have some grateful fans than some of the spoiled, angry, ungrateful sob’s that we have on our “team”.

Bynum…. We don’t care that you helped us win a ship. That you postponed your surgery to try to help us put another banner. That you endured pain for Laker glory.

We are upset that you don’t have a doctor degree and didn’t know that your surgery would entail a longer rehab. YOu should have known that. You should have not even talked to laker management who approved your surgery and the timing of it. Bynum you should have said FU to all the advice you got and had a psychic predict the extent of rehab you would have.

Too bad your name isn’t Kobe because if it was you would have had lots of people who would have cya’d you not too mention kiss your ass and tasted it as well.

  • Leaderfish

I am sorry to say we have some spoiled fans NO DOUBT.
