Bye bye Ariza; Trevor about to get big payday ($32-40 million)

If true, Ariza will be gone. Ron Artest anyone?

Yahoo! Sports: According to a Twitter post by Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Trevor Ariza will become a very rich man at the hands of the team that loses out on Hedo Turkoglu.

League executives believe Portland or Toronto, whichever team does not sign Turkoglu, will offer Ariza between $32 million and $40 million deal.

nooooo nooooo noooooo…man lakernation will hate this guy fasho if he leaves because of money…especially to these crappy teams….please no

  • 123kid

ya right! i dont think teams would spend that much on ariza!

  • tdoom15

I say let ariza walk, mitch is smart not to give up anything beyond the MLE, and frankly he’s not worth it. He is young and has some upside, but even with that, I don’t believe he is anything special. I would take Artest in a heart beat over ariza. Dont get me wrong, I really really like ariza, but the following is enough to make me go after artest.

Cleveland wants him, and artest can be a huge piece to a team like that.
Ariza is always going to be the 4th-6th best player on a team, and cant handle a roll bigger than that imo.
let someone else over pay for him, and I believe artest could probably be had for the MLE.
Kobe and Artest at the 2 and 3 positions would be a nightmare for 29 other teams in the league.

My only hesitation is that ron ron is going to want to start jacking up shots all night long, but i think he can be content with 12 a game.

  • http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/ Nissan

Artest to the Lakers, Hedo to the Blazers, Sheed to the Crabs, and Ariza to the Raptors.

  • http://www.lakersvolssparks.blogspot.com Margo

You know what…if he wants to spend 5yrs w/ teams who WILL NOT BE CHAMPIONS, then hey. Honestly I would not want Trevor to go, but SERIOUSLY..PAYING HIM ANYTHING OVER 7MIL IS CRAZY!He did his $3mil job, hit the shots that are open b/c of Kobe and Pau, Toronto won’t make it out the 1st rd..oh not to mention U R A STARTER ON THE NBA WORLD CHAMPIONS TEAM. His agent trying to make it seem like the Lakers are not committed to winning…PLEASE!THE Lakers played this game with you for Andrew, but it’s too many other SF’s avail out there for these games…Ron Artest..heck ya…people at this point I think if u gave Desmond Mason this opportunity he would be just as good..yea think about it? I want Ariza back, but AFTER WINNING THE SHIP, I DON’T WANT A STRESSFUL SUMMER…u coming back or not?

  • Franchise98bn

It’s okay Ariza is a good defender…but Artest is a pitbull. Plus he’s crazy!!! Phil has had good history with dealing with headcases like him…see Rodman. Come to LA Artest…we’re a F*cking Dynasty!!!!!

  • Mitch4Pres

    nooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Henry232

I think some of the higher paid guys like Kobe should redo their contracts and take less to win more. Maybe you could top MJ’s 6. Spread the wealth you greedy f’s. What can’t you do with 20mil than you can with 25 a year. Don’t get lumped into the Arod category. Keep the group as is minus Vujacic and Morrison if possible. 86 those guys.

  • 808t

Cmon ariza, open you eyes and win more rings!! then again i’d take the money, but cmon ariza!!

  • John

dang im gonna lose sleep over this, this breaks my heart, every athlete in the world bleeds green! f what they say.

  • drew

[Comment ID #78028 Will Be Quoted Here]

Well Kobe already decided not to opt out of his contract this year and re-sign for the max, which saved the team 4 or 5 million dollars. Trevor should sign a smaller contract with the Lakers to win a few more rings, prove he can play like that over a period of time (a few years), then sign a bigger contract in his prime with the Lakers or another team.

  • Andro Estella

[Comment ID #78028 Will Be Quoted Here]

kobe not opting out is saving us money, and plus hes WORTH the money, ariza is MLE at best, artest for MLE is better
f*ck arizas agent, i dont wanna sign ariza to 8mil+ and hes gonna end up like sasha or everybody else that we signed a hefty contract too
    smart move mitch! dont overypay!
    i love ariza, but cmon

    -Andro Estella

idk wut im talking about, im an idiot

  • Purple and Godl for Life

Some people in here know that if it was their money they would not overpay for anyone. Some of us booed Kobe for saying that he wanted to be traded because the Lakers would not get him help. We asked that he stay and stop trying to play GM. Now, he is doing that exactly and just worrying about his contract. Why should we pay the man who is responsible for bringing us 4 titles and for filling the Buss’ family bank acct to take a pay cut? Would any of us? I highly doubt it. Get off your high horses. This is business and it will be handled accordingly. Let Ariza walk. Bring back LO and sign Artest…

  • andro estella

[Comment ID #78029 Will Be Quoted Here]

id take the 5-6 mil/year the lakers are offering, AND take the rings
then an extra 2-3 mil/year with a scrub team w/ no rings, no playoff time, & cold weather (not perfect weather like L.A)

  • spongebob

craig hodges put a lot of work into Trevor’s game, he helped trevor improve his jumps shot and that helped trevors perimeter game, which opened up mor opportunities inside, we put a lot of work into trevor, too sad too let him go

  • Dragon

Well he should go if he gets that much I mean common thats a lot of money championship rings are nice but doesn’t pay the bills.

  • spongebob

have fluke, farmar, machine, Sun yue, maybe powell or mbenga in the d-league so there is more room on the salary cap

  • Razor Ramon

I love trevor but i think he would be hated if he left! but hes gotta take care off his family and ten generations following… If we lose ariza ill be sad but i would cheer up right away if we got ron artest… hes nuts but fckin awesome!!

  • Henry232

I realize Kobe is the “Main” guy on the team and I am a huge fan of him and the Lakers but I don’t care how many seats he fills or how many jerseys he sells along with any athlete. There comes a point of when is enough $$$ enough. Seriously the average guy feels if he goes up 20k a year in his salary he can do exponentially more with his entertainment dollars. Whats a few million a year to someone who is likely over the 120-150 million mark for his career. I hate Lebron and Tiger woods for making more in endorsements then in the game itself. Who are you really as a person when you SH%$ green? Just saying spread the wealth and you would never be compared to AROD, TIGER, Or Lebron.

  • sketch

I guess that at the end of the day, Ariza doesn’t bleed purple and gold… he bleeds GREEN! No hard feelings towards Trevor if he leaves, he deserves whatever he can get, but FCUK his fcukin agent, David Lee… mother fcuker! I hope he CHOKES, the next time he says one of his players bleeds the color of the team that they play on!

  • Purple and Godl for Life

The Lakers can offer 6.5 for five years that sounds do-able. That would 30mil. He would be making 2 million less and a chance to get more rings. This is not completely out of reach for the Lakers.

  • BlackMamba24

I say we let him go! Trevor will soon learn from his mistake. Yes he will have money but ain’t nothing better than another ring. With whatever team he leaves they won’t be a top contender unlike LA. Ha w/ or w/out him we still a good team. But just imagine if we add artest to the group. LA 2010 CHAMPS. HAHAHA i wonder who’s gonna want to guard lebron this year kobe or artest lol????Good luck lebron… What do yall think.

  • Johnny

The Sky Might Fall, but I know for sure Kobe’s dropping 50 on whatever team Ariza goes too. F*ck you ariza. Your so dumb. Same with that David Lee guy.

Neither Artest nor Kobe needs to guard LeHype! He won’t be able to drive the lane with the FAT FCUK SNAQ in the middle and we all know he can’t hit a jumper to save his life! So, the way I see it… we leave him alone on the perimeter and double Mo Williams! LOL!

Well, with the way that both Mo and Delonte was shooting against the Magic, it seems like that the Lakers ain’t got a need to play D at all!

I agree with u in some sense…it’d be nice to shave off 2-3 mil at least? but then think about it…Kobe brings in the revenue. i dun think lakers would be making nearly as much without him

  • willow

His agent was only doing his job. To get the most money for his client while his stock is up. I get that he said he wants to stay in LA but money talks, man.

I just love the Nation! We all think with our hearts not with our minds when it comes to the Purple and Gold. I’m disappointed he’s leaving. It’s still a possibility he will stay if the Lakers can come close to that offer…but I say let’s focus our attention to RON ARTEST. I don’t wanna see that dude on a Cavs or Celdicks uni.

    DO IT MITCH!!! GetArtest.com lol

  • 2Anush4

i love Ariza…but if he leaves he will have changed in my eyes. I rather see him go to toronto than portland because portland will only get that much better but i see portland signing Hedo because they have a much bigger need for that position. But that much money is too much for a role player that fits perfect in this system that might not shine as much on any other team….and fuck his agent i would really like to kick that agent in the balls……what a tool….hey even made Bynum look like a prick when they were negotiating

  • Kobeism

y’all are such two-faced dbags…before, you’re all over arizas nuts but now you’re all saying fuck ariza. I know it sucks to see a dude like him leave but think about it…this game is a BUSINESS…he’s doing what he has to do. i mean shit if you were offered 32-40 mil compared to the mle, wouldn’t you take the higher pay, especially since it’s SUBSTANTIALLY higher? I’m with y’all on this fellas cuz it pains me too, to see such a dude leave…but cut him some slack…he’s just trying to make money like the rest of us

  • dan

ariza doesnt even DESERVE that much

  • LeBronze

    hold on hold on,

wasn’t it two seasons ago Lakers made it to the finals WITHOUT Trevor Ariza?

Now I love this guy as much as the next fan, but he doesn’t merit anything above $6 Million, and if he wants to take the $$ instead of winning(nothing wrong with it) then fine.

It doesn’t mark the end of our team, Artest (rumored to be coming) can suffice and I feel at this point of their careers is easily the superior player.

    Bynum/Gasol dominating the paint
    Kobe/Artest dominating the perimeter.

    Repeat chance is increased immensely.

  • Jonathan

Oh well, atleast its not the Cavs.

So, relax and read all the posts and stop lumpin everybody in your emotional grenade! Hahaha!

Man, just know this, I can guarantee you that none of the guys on the team are up at this hour readin and writin blogs! Maybe we as fans, need to have a little perspective and chill out a little. Gettin all hyped up and pissed about every little word that’s reported, just wait for the results and then make your comments. Sleep on it, you’ll feel better about what you post later, I promise. Lol!

  • http://KB24.com rissa missa

seriously?!?!? i would hate to see Trevor go but if he’s offered that amount of money, i wouldn’t be mad if he accepted. that’s too much money to turn down. it’s a business after all and these organizations wouldn’t think twice about getting rid of a player that they no longer have “use” for.

  • Jonathan

A salary starting at the MLE and raising every year, over 5 years, is like 31M, why not just throw a little bit more in, and keep him??

  • WhatDoIKnow

Both sides are just posturing. MLE is a low-ball offer when you think about the fact that Luke and Sasha make similar money. Ariza is definitely worth more than those two. $7 is the max I would give the guy.

Now the lakers don’t want to overpay for a player? They should have thought of that with Luke and Sasha.

Ariza, don’t get your feelings hurt. It’s called a negotiation. It’s like when you got to buy a car. No dealer is gonna give you the best price as the first offer. Hey if Ariza doesn’t understand that and is really mad about the offer, then he is immature. I’d be mad if Lakers don’t budge from the MLE. But if they do offer him more and some stupid team’s gonna offer him more than the lakers, then he really didn’t want to stay.

hey Rissa Missa how do u link ur name to another website???

  • lakers2009champions

    Bye Bye Ariza

    Welcome to LA Ron Artest!

  • Robert

Trevor was critical to the Lakers championship run. The steals and shots helped seal the deal here. Also, he has a great upside, amazing speed and drive. He will definitely be missed as a role player, if he leaves. And if he goes to Portland … well, Portland is a perpetual ‘nemesis’ of the Lakers, since way back. It wouldn’t be good. In the best of possible situations, he goes back to the East (Toronto), and helps that team.

Then, for us, we get Artest, who WANTS to come here. Kobe and Ron – two killer dobermans. The Lakers will be unstoppable. Together, they would take it to the next level. It would be a ‘dynasty’. I think that’s what we want for the next 5 years, with Kobe in charge. None of the other trades this year AND next would even matter. We would have the inside and outside locked up.

I predict that Artest will come here, and Kupchak will pay more than the MLE. That would piss off Ariza, or .. well, probably not. It’s a business. If he get’s his $40M, and the Lakers offer Artest $8M, then (the EXTRA $48M that Buss gets from the playoffs would more than pay for all this) Ariza would have to say, “I took care of my business, the Lakers took care of theirs”.

If Ariza leaves, we wish him the best for him and his family. He had such a traumatic life with his losses, and so he deserves to do what he can to take care of his family. That’s truly the most important thing.

But for the Lakers he would leave behind,

Time to take the next step . . . .

  • WhatDoIKnow

now artest is definitely worth 8 mil. ariza has to show what he did in the playoffs for a full season before i give him 8 mil or more.

  • Deport Vujabitch

Sasha and Luke should have their contracts rewritten so they make the minimum. These two suck.

What did we piss away on Luke $30 mil? What a JOKE! And the money paid to Sasha? They could have just as easily thrown those millions in the toilet and flushed it – it would be the same result!

  • FarmarAllStar

This is just BS. The Lakers will sign back Ariza.

  • What a

    Wow ariza
what a ( i dont want to PROFANE this page up ]
if ariza goes, kobe will SURELY drop 50 on the team ariza is on, just like how he went off against the warriors when they took turiaf

  • Anon

Ariza I can see as a fit to Portland, but Toronto, really?

No matter what, Toronto will always be a crap team, and plus they already have Demar Derozan at the 2/3 wing position.

  • Mr. WoodCock

    http://blogs.pe.com/prosports/2009/07/couple-odom-ariza-tidbits-to-p.html

“I’ve seen some potential contract figures being thrown around for Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza that seem pretty unreasonable to me based on the state of the economy and the lack of big spenders this summer. An NBA source I spoke to on Tuesday said that both Odom and Ariza would likely command multiyear contracts worth about $6 million to $8 million per year. Basically that means the Lakers will need to offer more than the mid-level exception to keep both of them, but that the idea either could get $9 million to $10 million in this economy is highly unrealistic.”

  • lainok

I still think there is a chance we resign him, but if he get’s offered a huge contract, he should take it. I know he has a son, and I have two little boys of my own. by him going to another team and either being the number one guy or even the number two, then he is also going to be getting endorsments that you don’t get here because of kobe’s shadow. I personally would take the MLE because I am insane about the lakers. If I played in the nba, I would take any amount of money just to play for them. But I’m guessing most the dudes on the team aren’t as fanatical as we all are. So they need to do what’s right by them.

with that said, ariza played amazingly this last season becaused he flourished with this particular team. I think if he goes to another team, after a year or two, we barely ever hear about him again.

  • Kobe8

LET HIM GO AND TRADE FOR TRAVIS OUTLAW, HE PRETTY MUCH PLAYS LIKE ARIZA.

  • Anthony

Buss has the cash. He wants the rings, but is not willing to shell out the cash? Losing Ariza will be a big blow to this team, despite what a lot of your guys think. And regardless of what anyone says Ariza came out almost every night and played his ass off.

  • getartest.com

Let him walk. He will falter under another system. We need to sign a tough big. I would like to see the Birdman at Staples!!! Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……….

  • showtimelakes

This really sucks but it is the free agency era. I don’t see us getting Artest I hope but I just heard he met with L-hype in LA.

  • Diggah_dalakerfan

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what will be

Well, It looks like Ariza was playing for a big contract this season, meaning he will take a step back when he get’s his payday. If I was him I would fire my agent and take a 1 or 2 year deal with the Lakers at what ever they are asking, However like I have been saying:

    PG-Kidd/DF/S.Brown or Grant Hill
    SG-Kobe
    SF-Artest
    PF-Gasol
    C-Bynum

Is what would be needed to beat the likes of the Cavs, or Boston…

  • lex

4get about ariza he a very good roleplayer Ron artest is a star way he’s a stronger defender more experience defender better ball handeler passer and can create his own shoot this is a know brainer Artest all the way F*ukkkk ariza

  • LEADERFISH

For those who think kobe not opting out saved the lakers money are IDIOTS. What other team could have paid kobe 23 million dollars? Answer NO TEAM. Now he could have restructured his contract to help out the lakers retain the other players but he doesn’t have to.

SO LETS GET THIS ACCURATE. IF KOBE CAN TRY TO GET ALL THE MONEY HE WANTS KOBE OR ANYONE SHOULDN’T COMPLAIN IF BOTH ARIZA AND LAMAR LEAVE FOR BIGGER MONEY.

  • ballsandword

how could he forget the fact that he was a nobody when he was with the magic and knicks.

if it wasn’t for the lakers, he would’nt be the ariza we all know now.

  • Haigo

Greed gets where you want to be. But once you get there, you will be miserable! Ariza will be making the biggest mistake in his life, if he leaves the Lakers. Do you know how many players are drying to play for the Lakers. Ariza you are not a MAN of your WORDS! You straight up told over 100,000 fans that you will be back. And as far as Kobe you too should consider a pay cut if you want the championship team to stay together. Ariza you a good player and all and a damn good stealer and you have developed a good relationship with the Lakers why abandon us now. Dont listen to your agent…he wants his comission and thats all he cares about. Do the right thing, however if u chose to leave then you will miss out on another 2009-2010 lakers championship win and you will definitly get booed from your former fans if you leave LA! This is your home town Trevor this is where you grew up this is where you can call home! If you leave then you leave everyone else behind!

  • xtro

Adios Ariza. You are going to regret it.

  • ilikebasketball

AND REmember we got to the finals without ariza. yes we lost. but we don’t collapse without him.

    if he goes to portland.
first game at the rose garden we beat them, when ariza is on that team, for the first time in 7 years on their home court. And we leave with a big middle finger to ariza.

if he goes to toronto we just laugh.

    haha

  • Haigo

AND NO ON ARTEST. WE DON’T NEED A SELF CENTERED EGO MACHINE LIKE THAT. PHIL WON’T WANT THAT. ilikebasketball I agree with you on that one!!!

  • lakerman1

Ariza if he can get it will take the money & run. But his potential will dwindle when he has to adapt to a system that does not suit his talent. You are only as great as the players and system around you and that also goes for superstars. His Agent likes to play head games ( he wanted 80 mil for Bynum and that is still a work in process ) If no one else signs him for that amount of money he will still be a laker with the same old story’ you know the one.

  • http://getgasol.com getgasol

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

If somehow we can get Artest out of this, then I would be OK with losing Ariza. But that’s only if we can pull off Artest. If not, We HAVE to keep Ariza.

We can’t pay Ariza 30 million, though. If that’s really what other teams want to give him, he’s gone.

Worse yet, we could end up with neither :(

  • WifelovesLuke

WOW! There is a lot of over reacting going on here over a twitter. Guys…information is being leaked by the agent to test the market value of his client. A bigger # than what Trevor will actual earn is being tossed out there. Sell high to sell down is the way it goes. You don’t ask fro $40mil over 5 years and then expect to get it. Trevor could take an offer from Lakers for less than that and they you’ll all feel stupid for jumping to conclusions. I trust Mitch and the Laker organization to make good moves.

Rub your ear lobes and say oooosaaaa!

  • Kb24sdbest

My advise… Mitch or Buss ( i hope you are reading this)
Keep Ariza and dump Odom. I wouldn’t pay ODOM for over $10 mil/year.
Give Ariza $6-7 mil. and Odom 8-9 mil./year. Odom is not worth over 10 mil. Ariza is not worth over $7 mil/yr. If I had to, I would take Ariza over Odom because he’s younger, better shooter, and i think Ariza can focus better than Odom. If we loose either one, i would love to get Artest. I’d offer artes $7-8 mil/year, no more than that. Ariza can play 2 or 3 and Artest can play 2-4 positions. I hope the lakers are really thinking about their budget plans between Ariza, Odom, and Artest.

If the only two teams that have enough money for Turkoglu and Trevor are Portland and Toronto, then Turkoglu is going to choose Portland because Portland is the team that has a much better shot at winning. Toronto is struggling, Turkoglu won’t choose them, unless its for a TON of money, but my guess is that Turkoglu will go with Portland, because Portland is the more complete team.

That means Trevor is stuck with Toronto, who will lose Bosh shortly.

  • lakerferlife7

wtf is going on with lamar

  • Raphael Rossellini

If Portland gets Turkoglu, Toronto has been targeting Kleiza, and that would eat up some of their cap space and would allow them to only make a MLE like offer to Ariza.

  • http://myspace.com/sonicussj Whatsa

If Portland gets Ariza, OH SHI-

  • http://andycosialindustries.com fido

All rumors, with nothing to substantiate this stuff outside of David Lee’s agent speak. This is a ploy to the Lakers to make them nervous enough to sign Ariza to an inflated deal. relax everyone, this is the way agents work – from the gutter up.

  • http://andycosialindustries.com fido

By the way the Ariza leaving for the Raptors or the Blazers has now been proven false by numerous sources.

  • fido

    From the NBA Rumors twitter…

“There is a very real possibility Ariza does not get more than MLE. He has yet to get n e calls 4 > MLE & his agent is panicking”

These press releases are slimy negotiation tactics from Lee. The Lakers called him out on Bynum’s deal and got AB in the fold for far less than Lee wanted so now he’s making empty threats to the Lakers in the hopes that they don’t beat him again.

    Once again – relax everyone.

  • RJ

Only team who can pay that much is raptors but it is not a done deal yet they always put stuff on lakersnation but this mite be real ariza is really leaving wat a greedy guy

how do people link their names to a specific site, fido?
    What settings did u change?

  • fido

Not sure I follow what your asking Fresh.

Ariza is not the greedy one here. Don’t mix up slimy agents with players – there’s a GIANT difference!

Right now the Lakers are still the front runners as David lee’s phone is quieter than he wants ti to be right now.

  • skew

i knew ariza was leaving. the nba is a business. at the end of the day, its all about the money! with that said, ship his a$$ out! more time for sasha. woohooooo!!!! sasha gonna tear it up next year and plus we have sun yue!!! :) lakers 2010 champs!!!!

  • kevin 0

BYA ARIZA THANKS FOR THE GOOD MOMENTS
REMEMBER TO SAY HELLO WHEN U PLAY US AT STAPLES CENTER

  • fido

You guys are acting like he’s already left.

    Ariza hasn’t gone anywhere.

    Love/hate the off-season…

  • ricky

I will miss Trevor if he decides to take more money and sign with another team. I think he is such a valuable asset being that he’s still so young and has so much upside defensively and has improved drastically on his 3 point shooting and slashing. It’s easy to say players are greedy, and they are, but it’s also their career for life as well. They need to make the big bucks if they get the chance. Since Trevor has already won a championship, I can understand his choice of leaving now for more money, but at the same time, it will suck to see him leave if he does so.

On the other hand, if he does go, we at least need to bring back Lamar and Shannon because we need to at least secure some if not all of our championship roster.

Lately the Ron Ron rumors have been floating around and if he would finally stop bullshitting around with other teams, he could have already won his first championship with us. If Trevor does decide to leave, Ron Ron would be such a great addition. Imagine him and Kobe at the 2,3 spots they would make a hell of a nightmare match up for opposing teams. 2 tenacious defenders who have a mean streak of wanting to destroy the opposing team. Kobe will also have another player who can get his own shot and take it to the basket, this would be so sick. Not only would you have Ron Ron, but Andrew would be back 100% from injury, Pau will be Pau (Mr. Consistent), and Lamar would still be around.

That’s a sick group of 5 no team would want to mess with.

    Fisher
    Kobe
    Ron Ron
    Gasol
    Bynum

    Lamar (re-sign)
    Farmar
    Luke
    Shannon (re-sign)
    Vujacic
    Powell
    Mbenga
    Morrison
    Yue

Bring in Artest, Grant Hill, or J. Kidd… and Re-sign Brown and Odom… This would be the best way for the Lakers to go if they lose Ariza…

  • fido

Hill is no substitute for Ariza (IF he should leave). Kidd is New York bound, nor does he fill a gap left by Ariza (again IF he left). The only option would be an easy run at Artest.

But as it stands right now, Ariza is still a Laker and i suspect by the end of the free agency frenzy he still will be.

  • RJ

Im sick of all these bs from twitter and dumb shit on lakersnation if ur going to put something make it fcuking real we dont have time to hear about thise fcuking bs its not funny if u put joke put shit only if its really true.

  • dom1020

fuck you ariza, leaving for money what a bitch move….

AND NO I DONT WANT ARTEST, ariza is wayyy younger than him to

  • purplegoldvein

Ariza is good, hes not worth anything over 8 or 9 millie a year, and thats pushing it. Bring big Ron Artest and we can witness the lakers 70+ win season, its over. anyway as long as we keep LO were fine anyway! but i cant hate on you trevor, make that money. remember this guy was going from team to team few years ago, if he gets a fat contract he’ll be dumb to not take it. plus we might even get a good year off the bench from a say, Grant Hill? sounds like the lakers are still good to me, oh yea they have these guys Kobe, Pau, and Drew who im going out on a limb for and saying hes gonna have a monster year. a bit optimistic maybe, but this is the Lakers!

  • what will be

Ariza is a great role player in the Triangle, under PJ… Add him in a new system with a different coach, and he will fall off the chart… trust me on that. If only he understood that…

  • lakersforlife77

If true, Portland/Toronto is incredibly stupid.

  • i0ioooi0i

[Comment ID #78153 Will Be Quoted Here]

i agree. there’s a reason why New York AND Orlando both got rid of him to begin with.

  • lakers4lyfe

u guys hating on the guy are forgetting that its a business and u guys saying kobe should take a paycut are dumb as well…its a business. aside from winning championships, this is still their jobs. they are professional basketball players. think before u speak people

  • http://www.motivewebdesigns.com MrRJ

    GET ARTEST!!!!

I can’t believe, this, so greedy… to leave a team you just won a championship with

  • FT

PCE OUT TREVOR! GO AHEAD AND MAKE A STUPID BASKETBALL MOVE, MIGHT BE SMART MONEY WISE SINCE IT IS A BUSINESS BUT ON THE BASKETBALL SIDE OF THINGS LETS BE REAL, CLEVELAND IS ONE AND DONE, TORONTO JUST STRAIGHT UP SUCKS, HOUSTON IS DONE WITHOUT YAO AND PROBABLY ARTEST LEAVING, PORTLAND MIGHT BE SMART BUT THE TEAM HAS SO MUCH TALENT THAT AS SOON AS ALL THOSE PLAYERS START BECOMING FREE AGENTS THEY WILL LEAVE. IF YOU SIGN WITH THE LAKERS AND ODOM STAYS TWO THAT PRETTY MUCH MEANS THE TEAM STAYS LIKE THIS FOR AT LEAST 3 MORE YRS, THAT COULD EASILY MEAN 2 MORE RINGS IN THE NXT 3-4 YRS AND YOU’LL STILL BE 27, RIGHT IN YOUR PRIME.

kobe wanted to leave to win a championship, trevor wants to leave for money, so have fun wherever you go.

  • trevorariza1

I am leaving LA because i hate you guys.

5.6 mil a year? you gotta be kidding me.

Get ready to see me with the Cavs or Rockets.

    Have fun with Artest.

  • john

hell yeah! fuk him, i want artest more! who does he think he is asking for so much money!

  • http://nbafan24.webs.com kbfan24

This is just all part of free agency. Offers will be made but hopefully he will make the right decision and take an offer from the Lakers. The Lakers will come through and offer him something around 2 years 6 or 7 million a year. And people say he will go to Clevland. No, because Clevland will offer MLE too. Blazers will take Hedo, and Trevor is only left with Toronto and Houston. No one knows what is going to happen in Houston with Yao and McGrady. Trevor fits great in the triangle and if you put him in another system it will take him a long time to get used too. People didnt know Tevor had this potential until he came to the lakers. Enough said.

  • DaveW

Hate to see TA go but hey, we get better with Artest. He’d be doing us a favor. I love TA – but like you all said, it’s a business. No hating on TA – I just think that if we don’t improve our roster then we ain’t even close to repeating. celts, magic, cavs, spurs…all improving a lot – we can’t just sit idly by as the other teams build their team.

good job genius! its about the same as what the lakers were offering only for two more years! the market will likely improve before then if the half-breed hawaiian homie will stay out of its way, and you could have made much more in a vibrant economy!
