Kobe loves it and so do I. Let’s annihilate the Rockets in game 2…

gahhYahoo! Sports: The Lakers were abject failures in their Western Conference semifinal opener against the Houston Rockets. It was hard to tell, though, by Kobe Bryant’s downright cheerful attitude Tuesday.

“We played really bad,” he said of the 100-92 loss in which the Lakers shot 44 percent from the floor, were 2-of-18 from 3-point range, and 12-of-19 from the line.

Sensing panic in the streets among Laker fans, Bryant offered up some calming words.

“It’s not like it’s the end of the world,” he said. “We’re not the first team ever to lose a Game 1 at home, it’s just here in Los Angeles, people get pretty nervous.”

Bryant isn’t among them.

“Last year we kind of had a cakewalk to the NBA finals, it feels good to be tested a little bit,” he said. “To be champions, you got to go through some stuff. You got to have the resolve to be able to fight through a little adversity and respond, so here it is.”

Well said! We already witnessed what break does to you (ie. how rusty Lakers looked after the long break).

i know kobe loves adversity and he response well thru challenges, but are his teammates ready? Besides kobe and fish no one in the laker team have mental toughness. The bench are too immature, selfish, erratic, and inconsistent making dumb plays and decision making leading into turnovers. I’d like to see kobe lead the team in defense. Kobe is a good individual defender, but he is NOT a good team defender. He often cheats on defense leaving his man open without a hand and he does not rotate on defense. I’d like to see him play more of a team defense and show more passion and attitude, which i think the team needs sometimes to feed off energy. We have no interior defense, nobody wants to drive to the basket, and if we do and get foul, they missed too many free throws. I know the lakers are one of the favorite teams to win it all, but i would not be surprised if we don’t win it all, considering all their problems.

does anybody else think that phil should give jordan a chance to guard brooks? fisher obviously can’t do it, and shannon looked like he struggled at times keeping up. he was great when you have to guard a big and strong person like deron williams, but i personally think jordan matches up best with brooks.

  • FreakinCrod

I agree about Jordan, since he’s the only one who can match brooks’ speed. And it would be nice to see Kobe actually attack the basket before the last minute of the game. Also to LO learn how to shoot freaking FT jeez man. What is the excuse for players that made it all the way to the NBA to not be able to shoot FTs? WTF is up with that?

  • Kenny Smith

“Right now, Denver is playing the best basketball in the Western Conference – by far!”

Even Charles said that if he had to pick a team now it would be Denver.

    Lakers better WAKE UP!
They have literally been sleep walking through the playoffs so far. The last game was a big disappointment. This excuse about the long layoff is bogus. Two weeks off did not seem to have much affect on Cleveland.

Never listen to Charles what does he know about winning a championship. I rather listen to Kenny because he’s been a champion. Also Charles never ever roots for the Lakers unless he has no other choice. I watched the first quarter of the Denver game and Dallas doesn’t have any inside presence. Dallas turns the ball over on stupid passes. Denver just hasn’t really played anybody yet. Another thing I was watching some of the Cleveland game and nobody seemed to want to put a body on Lebron. When he drove everybody just moved out the way. I know he is huge but come on.

Can someone send Kobe or the lakers the article about Battier: Battier’s “Force Jump Shooting Field” against Kobe… ????? This will serve as motivational for sure

I am glad Bynum has some fire on his @ss, but more important than words is actions. I hope he will play with his brain and not getting in foul trouble early.
Sometimes I wonder if is best to put Benga and Powell to physically abuse o Yao on the first half and save Bynum for the second. Yao seems to get tired at end of games and that would be a good time to have Bynum stepping up.
Fisher the same. I think his experience is better for the crucial times. Farmar and Brown should play more.
I do predict Kobe on fire tonight, but the Lakers need to have everybody involved to have a great win.

No one person can slow down Aaron Brooks. Instead, the switch on the pick and roll needs to come sooner and harder, forcing Brooks out higher and further away from the basket. This will allow for either Fisher, Brown or Farmar enough time to recover sufficiently.

Make him pay on the defensive end by making him a liability. Use his size against him and punish him in the post. We play into his strengths by dancing on the perimeter and jacking up jumpers.

In Mark Heislers LA times Laker Article today Reuben C states Kobe was in Disneyland the weekend before the Rockets game with his family but was to sick to pratice with the team Sunday. Sometimes you have to wonder if he really wants to win another Championship or is just blowing smoke after all he already has 3, i guess only time will tell.

Kenny Smith and C Barkley need to stop fishing out in the hot sun. Kenny wasnt really that good and C Barkley is a doughnut. If Kobe takes alot of shots the Lakers will loose. Andrew looks like he is lost out there and seems to rush his shots. He needs to focus on rebounds and blocks and not worry about scoring. J Farmar would be a better cover for A Brooks but is in the dog house with Phil. It also seems Kobe was settling to much for jump shot. He needs to step up and take the contact going to the rack. That way he can get some free-throws. Luke Walton should a plus because of his brains and passing ability.

    -I’m sick of hearing Kobe.
-I’m sick of watching him cry to the refs.
-I’m sick of him not being a leader on defense when he was the doberman in the olympics.
    -I’m sick of his jumpshots

Play defense, drive to the hoop, and SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

Too bad a lot of the “Chinamen” support the Lakers anyway.

I challenge all the Chinamen, that is funny.

You have to use elbows and body slams. Lakers suck and they cheat.
