We learned last year with Ariza, on how flexible the Lakers are with their free-agents. Will the same happen this time around? Sound-off…

L.A. Times: Lakers guard Shannon Brown informed the Lakers on Wednesday that he is officially opting out of his contract, according to his agent Mark Bartelstein.

Bartelstein said Brown still wants to remain a Laker and that he and Brown would begin negotiating with the team Wednesday night after free agency begins at 9:01 p.m. Pacific time.

I wonder if Lakers have bird rights to Brown. If they do, there will be more flexibility on the contract length and value. If not, I think Lakers might consider letting them go because he’s not worth a MLE, or half of it.

Dont sign him. He struggled in the playoffs and finals. He makes decisions in games that make you scratch your head. Hes confused on the court.

Revamp the bench. Go after ridnour or blake

Dude Did You even watch Game 6 of the Finals or even Game 1 Man he Did not Struggle at all

      • kobez

We could get a lot better player than him to come off the bench.

Exactly the point. He was fantastic in Games 1 and 6. He faded away in the other games.

Well, none of this is a discussion if Buss is willing to part w/$$.
Also, I’m sure a lot depends upon how the free agent circus plays out. I’ll stay w/ my prediction of LeBrick to NYK, and others play musical teams and only make them a ‘little’ better, but definitely not Championship contenders. (however, will make for interesting playoffs).
Someone on the site here also explained MLE well, so I’m not sure how many players can be signed with that (2?), the veteran’s min, and … well does anyone else know how it works? We have several players that need to be signed. Are there other ‘scenarios?’.

I love downtown, but there are better players to get during free agency. Id go after Blake, Bell, and both Miller’s. Mike would be a great fit as a deep threat.

some of ya’ll dont know shit about free agency so just shut tha fuck up let the experts do this

I don’t know who will be available to the Lakers but its safe to say no one has Shannon’s athleticism. Additionally, he is a player that can only get better after another year in the triangle. The way I see it is that its either the same amount of money to Shannon or another role player… unmatched ahleticism or veteran savvy?
