Well after all this anticipation, it looks like the deal is now officially, 100% complete…

RealGM: The New Jersey Nets have acquired guards Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, center DeSagana DiopKeith Van Horn along with Dallas’ first round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, and cash considerations from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Jason Kidd and forwards Antoine Wright and Malik Allen, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

“This trade provides us with immediate help, most notably with the acquisition of Devin Harris, who we consider one of the rising young point guards in the NBA,” said Thorn. “Harris’s numbers have improved each of his four years in the league, and we feel that he has a significant upside. This trade also will give us two future first round draft picks and will give us flexibility to improve our roster.”

” Jason Kidd has been the best player to wear a Nets uniform during my current tenure with the Nets,” added Thorn. “He was the toughest competitor with the fiercest will to win and he was the main component in the most successful period in the Nets NBA history. Jason is a first ballot Hall of Famer and the man most responsible for transforming the Nets into a high quality NBA team. We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”

CAN WE BAN ALL ARTEST DEALS ON THIS SITE??? THEY ARE NOT HAPPENING UNLESS SACTOWN BASICALLY GIVES HIM TO US FOR A VERY CHEAP PRICE.

  • Michael_23

    J. Kidd to Dallas … “Yawn” …

Steve Nash is better PG and they still didn’t win with him.

They had Michael Finley at his top shape too at that time.

  • vida24

    Finley !

  • Shaq786

sac is getting odom… that has been their asking price since day one!

  • as1084

jason kidd couldnt even keep the nets at .500 in the EAST! how do u think he is going to do in the west?? dallas just got worse in my opinion, bench-wise.

  • foxxy

    WHO CARES?????HE’S NOT A LAKER……..SO!!!!!

The Kidd and Shaq trade have shortened the Mav’s and Sun’s window of opportunity for a ring, to one year… this year. Next year is pushing it. Past that, forget it.

This is why I think Kobe should get the surgery. I know he wants to keep the team’s rhythm going in preparation for the playoffs, and the “wild west” is “wilder” this year, but honestly, this is not our year. This year is the appetizer for the dynasty years to come… Which starts NEXT year.

Our core of Kobe, Pau, Andrew, and Lamar are all under 30. And that’s not including our even more youthful and very deep bench. Doesn’t it make sense to get Andrew and Kobe fully healthy for the MULTIPLE rings we’re going to win in the COMING years, rather than gamble on ONE ring this year? Even after the surgery there’s enough time just before the playoffs to get his legs underneath him. By than Andy will be back and I don’t know about you, but I believe a core of Pau, Lamar, Fish, and Andrew can win enough games to keep us in the Top 8 in the conference. Say we even finish as the 8th seed. Which #1 seed will wanna face us? We’ll be the most dangerous 8th seed ever.

In short, I may sound like the company man here, but it just makes realistic, long-term sense. Kobe should get the surgery now that Kidd has landed in Dallas, and Shaq in Phoenix. Those teams have erased their chances of competing with the Lakers in the years to come. We’re gonna want Kobe at 100% for that.

KIDD IS BETTER THEN NASH POINT GAURD WISE, I THINK THE STARTING 5 WILL BE SCARY

    C- ERIC DAMPIER
    PF- DIRK NOWITSKI
    SF- JOSH HOWARD
    SG- JASON TERRY
    PG- JASON KIDD

BUT THERE BENCH WILL CRUMBLE, ONLY JERRY, EDDIE, AND BEARA IS REALLY GOOD, DEAVEAN GOERGE IS NOT THAT NEEDED TILL DEFENSE

  • keep24

you think Mark Cuban got the memo about the twin towers in LA?

Steve Kerr got the memo but I think Cuban might have been out to lunch.

  • Phant0M

    Not our year??

    Its for the taking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • somelakerfan1

why are you guys worring about. they lost their center diop. they only have who dampier hes not good at all. lakers got 2 monsters in the paint bymun and pau plus not to mention lamar talk about 60 points in the paint a night plus the defense no penatration! so no problem

I feel we need to propose this trade to the bulls, to see if they would budge.

If Kobe gets surgery now, it’s goodbye playoffs. If Kobe doesn’t get surgery, and gets hurt later, it’s goodbye playoffs. Either way we might lose that’s why Kobe is taking a big gamble and just playing this through (knock on wood). With post season we’re talkin about 3 more months with Kobe playing hurt like that. OUCH.

  • DCLAKER

The whole West is jealous of how the Pau!Pau!Pau Gasol trade went down. Phoenix beat us twice in the playoffs two years in a row and there still can’t get The Lakers out of their minds and that’s why they went out and got Shaq, like that was supposed to scare PJ/KB(That’s the reason they got him in the 1st place),they’ll NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP ‘CAUSE THEIR TO BUSY WORRYING ABOUT THE LAKERS AND NOT ON WINNING THAT ‘SHIP.I think Dallas made a bad move getting Kidd(should’ve went to Clev.)and gutting out their team, especially giving up Diop and D.Harris(their future),NO WAY YOU MAKE THAT TRADE,CUBIN IS STUUUUUPID and he’s jealous too of the Pau trade. San Antonio stands the best chance of going back,’cause as we know SA plays better basketball in the 2nd half of the season,WHEN IT COUNTS!!!

Yeah, I made a similar comment a while back when they were talking about this trade.

I don’t know if I’ll say Nash is better than Kidd, but he is at least equal to Kidd, and, like you said, they didn’t win with him either, so I don’t think we should be too worried about this one.

  • Phant0M

Harris pretty much is Kidd, in a way..

In a few years he will be much more valuable

plus diop is the interior defense

so yea its a bad trade

  • JCBiglessworth

Since theres a lot of dumb people here that think of these ridiculous trades how bout this…

    Coby Karl for LeBron James
    Chris Mihm for Carmelo Anthony
2nd round pick for Dwight Howard
    Championship!!!

HAHAH I swear thats how some of u sound like to me with those dumb trade ideas

  • lakerz

in a year or two harris will be a great player and kidd will be all washed up.
while thats happening the lakers are winning the chip to either the pistons or celtics, maybe even the hawks but nah.

  • kingkb24

  • Imanuel

C’mon now, that’s ridiculous. If Kobe gets surgery now, it does NOT mean we’re out of the playoffs. For one, the team has finished the hard part of their schedule. Of the 23 teams the Lakers would be playing without Kobe, 11 have losing records right now – that’s nearly half. Now of course The Show isn’t likely to get all of those “easier” games, but at the same time, it’s not hard to seem them sneaking out good wins against some of the stronger teams too.

I really think they can keep the wheels from coming off the rails. Than it doesn’t matter what seed you get in the western conference because any one of the first round matchups are gonna be bananas! 5 game series between the all these crazy teams in the west? It’ll be the closest the NBA ever gets to the feeling of March Madness.

Any dumber than Kwame for Gasol?

A couple of moths ago you would’ve laughed at that one too.

  • LakersFirst (Change) (Close)

This is a good trade, another team in the West gets OLDER!!! Just like Phoenix did. Like one poster wrote, Phoenix and Dallas got older and will compete for only another year or two where the Lakers are still young and will be able to compete for the next 5 to 7 years.

Also, Dallas has no big men!! How are they going to be able to compete against teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Utah who all have multiple big men?
