has learned that Derek Fisher has been suspended for one game for the flagrant 2 foul on Scola. Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest were both not suspended though Kobe’s “elbow” has been upgraded to a flagrant 1 and will be fined.

UPDATE: The following press release has been released…

RealGM: Fisher has been suspended for striking Houston’s Luis Scola with his shoulder and head with 13.2 seconds remaining in the third period of the Lakers’ 111-98 win last night over the visiting Houston Rockets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals at STAPLES Center. Fisher received a Flagrant Foul Penalty Two and was ejected from the game at the time of the play.

Jackson also announced that the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant has been assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty One for elbowing Houston’s Ron Artest in the chest area with 6:57 remaining in the fourth period of last night’s game.

  • gugy

    not surprised.
Too bad Fisher did a great job smashing that fu-ckin Argentine Scola.
Farmar and Brown need to step up big time.

  • DA-LA

this is a blessing in disguise. fish was struggling with the rockets gaurds anyway. at least shannon “chris” brown puts some pressure on them..

  • kobe8

    i expected as much

  • Bynum from the playboy mansion

Play me at point guard I’ll smack scola in the face with my foot long penis, like I do it at the mansion. You’ll niggas wish you were me huh?

  • Lakersno834

Okay, this series reminds me of a combination of the series between the Phoenix (Raja vs. Kobe) and the Finals vs. Pistons. Where we lost game 1. Had to really fight to win game 2, and rest is history. I really hope they get over this mentally, and focus on attacking the basket. Lakers are shooting way to many jumpers.

  • Farmabrick

Start Brown and post him up on that itty-bitty Brooks: he’ll chew him up.

  • deafdefiant

Awesome. Now that Artests fuse is lit i can’t wait for the kaboom

  • Mr. WoodCock

What a bunch of BS. This shows you that the NBA is biased. Fish’s foul is nothing compared to what Rondo did to Brad or Kirk. Rondo hit Brad in the face and drew blood and threw Kirk into the scores table with force.

To make things worse, Stu gives KB a flagrant one foul. What a load of sh!t. I’ve seen worse fouls committed in the playoffs and nothing was done. Suck my d!ck Stu, you prick!!!

  • Zoom Kobe II

i enjoyed seeing how 1 square inch of Fisher’s head has enough force and energy to lay Scola, 6’9 245 lbs, 6 feet across the floor on his back.

  • Eidraq

on the fisher situation, we can’t really argue against it..but man do i have a renewed sense of respect for the bulldog..way to level the flopper

on the kb situation, thank goodness he’s not suspended..i expected the flag 1 to come regardless but him more fuel to torch up these suckers again

  • Mitch4Pres

expected but stu jackson is a BI TCH big time. how come rondo wasn’t suspended???

  • ilikebasketball

[Comment ID #70316 Will Be Quoted Here]

    true on all accounts.
amazing what rondo gets away with.
mostly because i’m sure stu realized that if rondo went out so would the celtics.

that shoulder to the chest was nothing that doesn’t happen everynight of the nba. artest being such a pus$y about it was the only reason it stu even reviwed it.

  • LakersFirst

…and with this I ask the sh*t commissioner David Stern and his lackey, Stu Jackson, how come Rondo was not suspended?

  • avcpl

Fish made a veteran sacrifice move, now they have to continue with the energy and step it up in his place.

Lakers need to know that every foul from now on is going to be called, so TAKE IT TO THE HOLE, GET THE CALL, AND CONVERT A DAMN FREE-THROW!

  • Big Rod

I hope the rest of Lakers got the message and wake the FU_CK up! They need to cowboy up and play better defense and hit the open shots. I thought the Bos/Chi series was fun to watch, but this series is like a movie in the making. You’ve got blood, elbows, pushing & shoving, T’s, flagrant fouls, players getting tossed… what else do you want? None of the series has been this physical.

I think we’ll see more fouls called in game 3. We need the rest of the Lakers to step up, especially the bench mops!

  • B

he got ejected and a suspension, where fish still made a basketball related move. On the other hand Howard elbows a guy in the face and gets less of a penalty and Rondo knocks a guy out with no penalty. Totally bogus, just adds to Jackson’s horrible reputation.

    Anyways the lakeshow will win.

  • kb248

Why isn’t anyone talking about the RON ARTEST slit throat gesture to kobe thats why he got ejected here’s the video its about 28 secs in

AMEN! They did better in Game 2 with Point In The PAINT, but there is still room for more.

Getting Yao in foul trouble is key and the only way to do that is to go to the paint.

  • gugy

Ron Artest will mentally explode in this series and get suspend. Mark my words. The dude melts under extreme pressure. His antics last night was just the ice on the cake.
Kobe watch your back, that dude is a great player but a freaking psycho!

umm he got a 2nd tech for that n then jeoy thru hi out the game for that.. if he aint do that gesture he wud not have been thown out i think… but yea he cant do that

  • dEDGE

Did you see Artest when he chased down Kobe? Something just went click inside of his brain, his eyes went all bugga-boo, and he completely lost it. Scary…

  • LakersFirst

Remember Laker fans, the Lakers went in to Houston without Bynum ane LO and still came away with a victory. I’m not worried!

  • flobe24

like phil said in his post game comments he just wants consitency. if rondo doesn’t even get a flagrant one for slapping miller in the face why should kobe get one for an elbow in the chest or fisher suspended for running through a pic?

  • Babak2

[Comment ID #70334 Will Be Quoted Here]

You’re an idiot. The gesture was an elbowing gesture, saying that Kobe elbowed him. Stupid comments like yours are how retarded rumors get started.

  • kobekobekobe

how does the fla 1 work? u get 1 game suspension if u get 2 fla 1?

  • E-Rock

The perimeter shooting from the Lakers just hasn’t been what it needs to be lately, if they are to win this series. They really need to step up their game and start attacking the basket more often. If they can put Yao in a position of foul trouble, they’ll have a much easier time of controlling the offensive end of the court.

everyone knows kobe is a dirty player(only thing in his game he didn`t steal from JORDAN)!BUT TO SEE FISHER PUNK-OUT ALSO…..SO SAD….GO LAKERS

  • iamthetie

As far as I’m concerned, Fish committed a man foul.

  • Smush Walton

I think Sk-hole-a flopped on the foul.
    Legs flying – yeah, right.
Fisher didn’t hit hit that hard!

  • Common Sense

Fisher is Dirty. He looks at him then slams him, I love how Phil crafted a lie about it in the Post-game.

  • Kenny Smith

    I love retarded comments – that’s why I have a particular fondness for your’s!

  • Fan of the Mamba

You must be a youngster who didn’t watch Jordan play and didn’t know how mean he was. Kobe is nothing in terms of meanness in comparison to MJ, who elbowed, talked smacked, kneed you, whatever he had to do.

And by the way have you ever played basketball? If you have then you know the best do what they have to to win, more than that it’s a physical game. Basketball after all is a contact sport. Nothing dirty about elbows, hands or knees.

How does clearing space to get a rebound make you dirty? You obviously never played past the YMCA. And saying Fish punked out? Dude, you’re just lame and don’t understand how the world works. Fish is gone for one game, but the veteran leader just said to his team “I got this” and sat that b!tch a$$ down. We now have a rallying cry for game 3 on the road. Win it for D Fish and don’t back down to these thugs. Grow a brain before you make stupid comments!
