Kevin GarnettThis article claims KG talks will pick up Sunday. Could this be the day Taylor gets back from his honeymoon? A lot of people are speculating a deal won’t be signed off until Taylor gets back. It could be that Boston will begin talks again on Sunday, but that wouldn’t make much sense unless you believe what Jim Gray said to Mitch and said, “you’ve been on the phone for three weeks now with the exception of today.” Maybe KG talks are stalled until Sunday for everyone. Makes you wonder. Oh yeah, Boston is back in it too… maybe:

Boston Globe: Kevin Garnett stayed put last night. Starting Sunday, look for the offers to resurface for the Timberwolves All-Star. The question has to be asked: Will the Celtics be back in the chase?

One of the most important non-components of last night’s deal securing Ray Allen was who was not involved. That would be Theo Ratliff, whose attractive, expiring contract is still on the Boston books. That was good enough to get Garnett a week ago, along with, ahem, Al Jefferson and assorted flotsam and jetsam. Would the Celtics do the same deal? Would the Timberwolves?

For those of you dreaming of an Allen-Garnett-Paul Pierce triumvirate, there are a few entanglements, starting with the reason the deal was killed in the first place: Garnett’s desire not to play in Boston. He was unambiguous about not only not playing in Boston, but that his preferred destination be Phoenix. (Somehow, we think he wouldn’t object to the Lakers.)

Based on what happened this week, I’ll hesitate to believe any story by the media and I’ll wait for things to play themselves out

    HERE WE GO AGAIN.

SHIT AINT GONNA HAPPEN. ATLEAST NOT FROM US, THE LAKERS WILL FIND A WAY TO BLOW IT SOMEHOW.

I don’t care what they have to do. They have to fix this team. I can see that, and I live in freakin’ Tennessee. They need an inside presence. If they can get KG great, do it. If you can get JO, go get him, but giving up Odom and Bynum for someone that obviously pouts during games when they don’t use him as much as he would like is stupid. Plus he stays hurt all the time. I can’t even remember a season since Reggie retired that he played every game or even close. I’ve said all along that Pau would be a way better fit than JO, but not better than KG. They could possibly even land Pau without losing Bynum. We still have picks next year, a mid-level exception, and an expiring contract that we can trade. Get Pau Gasol. Resign Luke, and put Farmar at the point. And if we keep the mid-level exception we could possibly even get Grant Hill, who is far from done. Think about that.

    Jordan Farmar
    Kobe Bryant
    Grant Hill
    Lamar Odom
    Pau Gasol

    6th man: Luke Walton

    Bench:
    Rad-Man
Brian Cook or Luther Head if trade goes through
    Ronny Turiaf

This would be a good enough team to come out on top of the west.

Who knows, maybe the Wolves even lose KG to free agency next year, or whoever they trade him to. And we stilll get him. Our team would be even sicker then. The possibilities are endless. But we have to play the cards right.

Garnett should speak his mind to where he wants to go, and Minny should repay him for what he had done last 12 years by granting his wish. Either way, Minny will get pretty good players back no matter what team they come from.

Let’s just wait and see. I’m tired of everyone’s imaginary lineups. Here’s my line up for next season:

    Kobe
    Jesus
    Phil Jackson
    Me
    My Mom

sixth man: midget guy from Willow. (or mini-me)

I completely agree. Jesus would get every call. He would be the greatest flopper of all time. He would just have to die then after the call was made he could just come back to life.

    Jesus would rock.
everyone would be like “jesus..that guy is good!”

    awesome.

Boston no longer has the #5 pick. Without that I don’t see how they have enough to get KG.

For us the problem is still how to turn Lamar into someone younger. If MN trades KG, they want to rebuild with young talent, not someone like Lamar.

  • lakerfan81

Jesus could also turn all the opponents water to Wine or hard liquor then we would be playing against a bunch of drnk players. We would go undefeated.

From every media report I’ve heard, he wants to go to Phoenix. I heard it on the radio this afternoon and Bucher was just on ESPN saying that too. I’m not sure what to believe at this point though. But consistently hearing KG wanting to go there makes me feel sick. If its true, I want Laker nation to boycott and get his house outta Malibu. lol If he wanted to go to New York, fine. But we’re talking our rival here.

we should offer Jesus the MLE and sign Teenwolf for the verterans minimum. send Bynum, Odom, Farmar, Kwame, Turiaf, Sunset Blvd., and cash consideration to MN for KG.

we’ld be looking at a starting 5 of:

    Jesus
    Kobe
    Teenwolf
    KG
    Mihm

actually, i dont think McHale pulls the trigger on that deal.

  • lakersforlife77

    How about this line-up:

    PG-Stewie Griffin
    SG-Kobe Bryant
    SF-Brian Griffin
    PF-Kevin Garnett
    C-The Hulk

Stewie and Brian bring great chemistry and then you have a true beast in the hulk

    Can you say championship?

  • ryguy2303

Kobe prefers to play SF, so just switch him with brian and we should be good to go.

lol your whole persona is ridiculous. You annoy me man

  • punkjones

I love all the Jesus as a Laker talk ala King Missile. Damn that song was genius. Anyway, I’m not believing the hype. After seeing the way McHale completely dismissed our offer, which by the way is better than they are going to see from anyone else, I became convinced that Minny is resigned to letting Garnett opt out of his contract next season and just keeping the cash. Really. I don’t think he’s going anywhere. Minny is not serious about moving him.

We need to get real and put in an offer of some kind on Gasol. Only question is should it be before or after Jerry West steps down? I wonder.

I would pull the trigger on LO and Bynum for JO just to get a big guy who can actually play at an elite level right now, not in the future (or in Lamar’s case, once every 5-10 games). One guy who can play big consistently, command double teams, hit big shots and provide a true compliment to Kobe on the block (even if he shoots fadeaways, at least he sets there – Lamar does not and will not for unknown reasons) is worth two guys who don’t. Sorry, that’s not overpaying, it’s actually getting something of value out of those two players. Gasol is probably all around not quite as good as JO, especially on the defensive end. He might be a bit better on the block, but I still value JO a little higher.

I don’t care either way but if we don’t get one of these two big guys, even having to give up LO and Bynum, I will consider this a blown offseason. It’s not easy to pickup a bona fide superstar big. JO is an all star.
