We wish Matt the best of luck on a speedy recovery.

O.C. Register: Matt Barnes was diagnosed Saturday with a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee — add him to the list with Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant of Lakers dealing with surgery to that right knee — and will be out more than a month, perhaps two months.

The Lakers are not setting a timetable on Barnes’ return until after he has surgery early next week, but general estimates for that procedure are more than a month.

Quick recovery and hope to see you back soon. Well this means that the ariza looking guy we have (forgot his name) will be back on the bench soon.

thats jus great………. Looks like artest is gonna have to step it up

better than a torn ligament…. should be back at 100% right in time for the playoffs. Go Lakers!!!

  • Laker101

Perfect time for Artest to step it up, hopefully Matt will be back by the end of Feb. giving him a chance to get back into the fold of things. I really hope this isnt the same situation as with Ariza a few years ago.

A meniscus isn’t as bad as a torn MCL/ACL. I remember Farmar tore his meniscus once, and he was back within 3-4 weeks after his surgery, but that might have just been him, so idk.

thank god we have walton… LOL LOL

Not too worried. he should be back by March (latest). In all honesty, I didn’t think Barnes had been playing very well over the past 4 weeks and I think Artest is going to start playing better.
Remember, Artest is the kind of player that needs big minutes to play well. Over his career, Artest has preferred to play 35 to 40 minutes per game. I think Artest has not played very well this year because he was only averaging 24 to 28 minutes per game. Artest will begin to play better.

That’s very true. I liked Barnes activity level but I felt he got to the point where he fouled unnecessarily/excessively.

I was at this game and saw Matt land awkward battling for a rebound. Matt has been contributing so much this season, he always comes out hard and gives %100! I know he’ll come back strong in time for the playoffs, that guy is a warrior!!!
