We wish Ron the best and a speedy recovery! Here is a statement from the Lakers PR staff…

Lakers Basketblog: Lakers Forward Ron Artest was injured last night at his home when he tripped over a box and fell down a flight of stairs, suffering an injury to his head and left elbow.

Artest received treatment at the emergency room at UCLA Medical Center, where he was released after undergoing a series of tests, including a CT scan. He received stitches to the back of his head and to his elbow.

Artest did not accompany the team to Sacramento this morning and is not expected to play in tonight’s game against the Kings. Artest will be examined today in Los Angeles by a neurologist and after that examination, an update will be given with an estimate as to when Artest will be able to rejoin the team.

Damn, I hope he get’s well soon. He is a tough dude. I’m sure this won’t keep him down for long.

does that mean Ammo gets the start?

They’ll more than likely start Odom.

I hope they DO start Odom, because quite honestly, I’ve been waiting almost a YEAR AND A HALF to watch Odom play SF. All these so-called NBA analysts say “Here’s a guy who plays PF or SF”, but seriously, when’s the last time he’s played SF? They experimented with it in the preseason of last year, and that was it.

Understandably, he’s a matchup problem in the sense that he is a PF who plays like an SF, but sometimes it seems like Phil either forgets or is afraid to drop him back at a position he hasn’t played since 2007. He’d rather throw Sasha in and have Kobe play SF, which hasn’t worked since the 2008 playoffs. Personally, I’d rather see Kobe at the 2, Odom at the 3, and give Powell Sasha’s minutes at 4 (Sasha should be benched in favor of Luke Walton in street clothes at this point). Phil also would rather have the Lakers will play “small ball”, with Ron at the 4 and Odom at 5. Creative, but I think Odom makes a much more convincing 3 than 5, and Ron’s proven he can play the 2 at Houston and Sac (not much minutes for Ron at the 2 in LA this year).

Hopefully this injury is a blessing in disguise, and reminds Phil he has YET ANOTHER dimension with this team to exploit.

Note: This is not a knock on a guy who has 10 rings. But you’re lying to yourself if you don’t get a little peeved at him and his man crushes with players like Sasha, Vlad Rad in the 2008 season, Kwame in 2007-08, Slava Medvedenko in 2004, and Samake Walker in 2003. Less Sasha is a good thing, and Odom playing some 3 might be the ticket.

Great Thats just what we need more Injuries

  • Anthony

Anyone get a chuckle out of the thought of seeing Artest falling down a flight of stairs? lol…

  • basket_weaver09

Hopefully starting lamar will give him a reason to actually participate in the game! Maybe he’ll stop shooting jumpers and take his “grass” to the rim!!!

  • LEADERFISH

Too much Hennessey. I have to try that some time. Is it any good?

  • brilliantn

get ammo to start. get him some minutes and confidence up.

  • Robert

Get well, Ron-Ron. In the meantime, sometimes an incident like that (accident, falling, etc.) changes something in an individual, hopefully in a positive way. In fact, I predict that Ron-Ron will come back and start terrorizing opponents on defense, and sharpen his shooting. Lakers opponents will have low scoring games when he returns.
I consider yesterday’s game and Ron-Ron’s unfortunate accident a turning point in the Lakers this season. Bring on 72+ !!

For some reason I’m crossing my fingers expecting his story to be accurate and truthful. Remember when Vlad Rad injured himself snowboarding and lied about the true cause. It would really suck and also ruin our chemistry. (JUST A THOUGHT). And as far as people worrying about just ONE loss to a CAVS team that has no chance of making it to the NBA finals, get a grip on yourselves. I expect this team to be rolling on all cylinders from late march ’till we win the championship! LA FOR LIFE…

  • jOSH IN DA 310

I ALSO HAD AN ACCIDENT JUST LIKE RON RON, AND ALSO JUST LIKE HIM I WAS LOADED UP WITH HENNESSESY ON THE ROCKS! LOL HOPE HE GETS BETTER AND HOPE HE CURES THAT HANGOVER.

  • jOSH IN DA 310

ANOTHER THING..I BET IF THIS WAS BYNUMB’S BIG LAZY ASS FALLING HE WOULD BE OUT FOR THE REAMAINDER OF THE SEASON. THEN WE WOULD RREAD ABOUT HIM WITH SOME PLAYBOY SKANKS ON HIS SHOULDERS AND HIS DAMN RENDEZVOUS WITH ALL THEM OTHER SLUTS HE BANGS. WHY CANT HE PUT MORE EFFORT INTO GETTING THE BALL IN THE BASKET, LIKE HE DOES PUTING HIS BALLS IN THEM STANK HOLES?

  • drive-for-16th

fUCK, i hope hes okay now, he should take rest now and hopefully by next game hes good to go. But i think he was really pissed of yesterday at the game when he got fouled out, he probably went home and was still a lil pissed off, fucking around he probably fell. wish him the best though, hes tough, he be good for next game.
