This is not good news, here is a small tidbit on Ron’s condition.

O.C. Register: Unbeknownst to the public, Artest is currently playing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the same foot on which he suffered a bad ankle sprain last season with Houston. He also has a sore left foot from being stepped on recently. He’s basically out there with no base, which makes it pretty hard to be athletic.

  • LAxALLxDAY

That explains alot! I was wondering why he’s hardly getting off the ground when he’s attempting a shot in the low post..smh!

  • kobeftw

..so this explains his inability to get off the floor and make layups or dunks?

  • http://rivalmedia.tv Chris Ekstedt

u have kobe, lamar and ron ron in my fantasy basketball team. UGH MAN! i gotta rely on LAMAR! FRIGGIN LAMAR?!?!?!?

  • BE_A_LakerFan

    We’re falling apart. Damn.

Hurt and the best record. What if we werent hurt, how good would the record be?

  • The Mamba24

Man, these injuries are messing our team up. I hope we don’t end up like what the Celtics ended up being last season.

If he had this in Houston ,how come its just coming out now. THIS TRADE DOSENT SEEM SO GREAT NOW.
All the staff lakers had and nobody could talk to Ariza to fire his stupid ass agent.
I think someone needs to held accountable for this mess.
Ron hasnt even played to his ability ,now he s brain injured foot injured what next .

    • bostonSUCKS88

IT WASNT A TRADE, HE WAS A FREE AGENT

rofl – facts dont matter in here

  • WifelovesLuke

    Ok….who hit the panic button?

    • LakersMike31

lol…when your top three players are all suffering from potentially long term injuries (and definitely long term for Kobe), it’s a MAJOR concern. The Lakers don’t exactly have the best training staff in the biz, and they ain’t exacly spring chickens, either…

      • LakersMike31

Oh yeah, I forgot…AND the “cornerstone” of our future, Drew, has old-man knees already.

  • LAtimes

And the dominoes keep falling…..damn cant we have everyone healthy once. Hopefully luke comes back; just in time for ron to sit out. WOW this trade isn’t looking so darn great anymore. Artest did have several injuries last season….

*signing (it was essentially a swap)

I remember I had this. It sucks. Every morning my right foot would hurt to the point that I didn’t want to get out of bed. But as you walk on it through out the day it feels better, Just to start the whole process again the next day. Only rest and stretching helped me get over this. It took like 6 months before my foot felt normal again. I feel your pain Ron Ron,

    • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Guys, have some faith. He will play through this, besides, it is reported that he has had this not too long ago, so its not recent and hopefully he could recover soon. 6 months though? Thats through the playoffs and into free agency month.
Though you gotta think, When Spurs won the championship in 2007, Tim Duncan started dealing with injuries, Manu Ginobli did too, then 2008 Celtics had KG go out, and now its Lakers… the championship injury bug. The champs get injured the following year.
Hopefully, unlike the previous champs, Lakers can get over the injuries and repeat as champs.

      • http://www.myspace.com/peopleofthesun Evil Empire

I don’t think its gonna take Artest as long it took me to get back to normal. Ron is getting top of the line treatment and he has trainers at his disposal. And its not something that will sideline you either. Within the 6 months that it took me to get over this, I was balling up 4 to 5 days a week. It just feels horrible the next morning when you first put pressure on your foot. As the day progresses your foot feels better, But you are a couple of steps slower on the court then what you regularly are.

Whats wrong with La mar and Bynum cant they step up nite after nite ?
Wy does Kobe play all banged up and brings his A game.
Dude was sick with a IV in him and played was vomiting
    and played injured shoulder etc.
Lamar Bynum Fisher if your not going to produce sit down. Do what Luke did man up and let someone else play.
And Sasha what good are you if you cant hit open shots?
Josh Powell chess bumps with Kobe dosent win games.
Farmar can you defend someone or do you not know how? I have a 11 year old that can show you how to play defense. He plays better than you and is 11.
Pau why yhe fuck didnt you take a beak screw the euro league did you forget where your check comes from ?
This bulll shit and Arttese injury should have been discovered before the free agent signed. He could have long term damaged foot. Rember Bill Walton?
Lakers you guys are letting us down and this is bull shit.
Phil losing Kurt was stupid he was your defense coach.
Shaw is not a defense player and Clemens so wheres the defense Coach?

    • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Dude, calm down, these things happen. Lamar has been showing up and so has Bynum, so I dont know what game you are watching.
These things happened to Celtics last year and not a single complaint from them. Are we that bad to complain? We cant make the Celtics look better than us, all we can do is hope for the best, because the NBA is a roller coaster ride, it has its peaks and limits, but eventually, you gotta go down, but you will be back up sooner than you think.

I wouldn’t panic over this. Artest is not playing intense basketball he doesn’t need to either; he is playing just good enough and the Lakers aren’t exactly expecting him to have huge numbers . I think Artest like the rest of the Lakers out there could pace himself until he gets to feel very good.

Our main problems out there are Bynum and Odom they need to rise up their level along with the bench; I’ve seen some times they do it but they need to be consistent.

If Bynum, Odom and the bench step up to the challenge
what that will do is take some of the load from Gasol, Kobe and even Artest.

IMO, we need to get at least one more guy I guess via trades?… Raja Bell sound good (if he wasn’t injured) of course. I guess the Lakers could have an opportunity by the trade mark of getting some body for the 5 million from Amo?…

I think something should and could be done with Amo’s contract that will help the Lakers in the long run.

    I can only hope…

Recall that Tim Duncan had plantar fasciitis and played through it – won a championship, I think. Did Kobe have ‘pf’ at one time? I seem to recall that. It sort of vaporized (as do all of Kobe’s injuries, eventually – we’re busy thinking about his index finger, but forgot that his pinky may still be an issue). Or was that ‘bone spurs’.
Artest can play through this – @Popcorn is right – he isn’t expected to play intense basketball – and shouldn’t now. If he is going to play in a lot of pain, best to wait for the playoffs.
But it does explain why the Lakers sometimes look flat-footed on defense: Bynum is afraid to jump and re-injure his knees. Artest would aggravate his ‘pf’.
Anyway, others on this site are correct – the year after Championships, everybody plays the Champs harder than others, so the Lakers have to step up each game, which is tough. It does produce injuries, but they’ll work through that (and, they still have the best record! – but they do need to pace).

Robert Bill Walton had it and it ruined his career.
