The league reduces Bynum’s “flagrant” foul to regular foul.

Andrew Bynum’s foul on Chris Andersen in the 4th quarter of Monday’s game was lowered from a flagrant 1 to a regular foul.

I still dont understand why they do it like that, do we get a point added to the final score.

    GO LAKERS

lol. what good does this do? when i was watching the game this was just the icing on the cake to blame the refs (which is still only partly their fault as we didn’t come out with any energy). do we get the two freethrows back? no. do we get the denver inbounds pass back (which i’m pretty sure led to two points if not an offensive board and then two points the way the game was going)? no. we do not. what was the score at that point in the game when the nugget cheerleaders (refs) gave the nuggets 4 free points?

The playoffs have been exciting, but to show a lot of reascended calls shows our league officials are not accurate and capable in making foul plays. These officials must be heavily trained during the off-season to know the types of fouls and how to call them. That’s why Stern is using more and more replays because our refs are not capable of handling these games anymore.

First, the Tim Donoghy scandal, and now our refs making many mistakes on plays that should not or should be called. It’s putting a dark stamp on the NBA and I’m getting worried as a fan. The hardest calls in the NBA are charge/blocking fouls.

And the 7 count technical foul rule is stupid. We risk not seeing our stars in the NBA Finals. It’s not only the 7 count, it’s how our players are getting them. Our players can’t express their passion and feelings anymore. I believe when Ron confronted Kobe, yes that’s a tech. But for Dwight Howard expressing his feelings, and Kobe slamming the ball on the ground and miscatching it … IS NOT A TECHNICAL foul. I can say these stuff coz I wont get fined. But if a player or coach says it , they’ll get fined. I hope the Laker nation reads my post.

    Thanks.

Should we adapt to challenge calls like the NFL?

That is what pisses me off too. That right there was just a good hard foul and instead of being 2 free throws they also got the ball back that gave them a 4 point play.

Such BS. Also helped them get much more momentum because of it. I hate the NBA when it comes to politics.

aren’t refs allowed to review plays to assess whether it was really a flagrant or not? in playoff basketball wouldnt you want to make sure that you should actually be handing this team 4 points in these types of games? the league should make up a new rule to review all flagrants before actually handing them out, especially in the playoffs where if you get 4 flagrant points you get suspended. what good does it do to rescind it after the game where you can’t give anything back. it’s as much use as the apology given by the nba to the mavs for not calling that foul before anthony drained the 3 to win the game last series.

Who cares now? The damage has been done. That play squashed any chance of a comeback and I almost feel insulted by them changing it now after the fact.

  • kobe8

f that. they need to review Jones’ trip on Kobe instead of bullsh*t fouls.

another call having to be fixed by the league.

aren’t all these changed calls just evidence of how bad the refs are doing?

what if we had lost by 1??

  • http://www.lakersvolssparks.blogspot.com Margo

I JUST want everyone to close their eyes: Now imagine this was game 7, that call is made with 3sec left on the clock! I’m sure that’s how Dallas felt, and you can do nothing about it! Do they understand how hard teams fight and claw their way into the playoffs and have to “accept” the inconsistency of the refs! We get on the players ALL the time about their inability to adjust to the calls, but how can they, when the refs keep changing up. Also the refs get paid BIG MONEY to make the right call. This is playoff basketball, it really is like win/go home.

I have been screaming about this since that punk Jones pushed Kobe in the back during game 3. When is the league going to step up and grow some hair on it’s nuts. Suspend his a$$! Enough is enough!

Some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.

  • http://57.amklac kobe,bi-curious?

andrew bynum doesn`t give the effort to commit a flagrant foul..way to much work!cat can barely run up the court!

  • Kb24sdbest

I think this years playoff is fixed. I have never seen so many inconsistent and discrepancy calls from the referees that I’m starting to believe that these games are being controlled by either the referees themselves by gambling or David Stern.
I mean come on… man… everytime lebron drives to the basket he gets a call, even if it’s a touch foul. The NBA has been protecting this kid for the past few years now and it’s getting so obvious. He shoots like 15-25 f/t per game, it’s ridiculous. Then when kobe drives to the basket he hardly gets a call unless he obviously gets thrown on the floor. Then all these ticky tack technical foul, is so damn weak… Come on just let them play or atleast be consistent with the calls. I mean one game the other team shoots 20 more free throws, then the next game the other team shoots 20 more free throws. There’s no balance… It’s getting freakin’ ridiculous….

  • WE ARE ALL WITNESSES TO LEBRON BEING ON THE BRINK OF ELIMINATION

THE E.S.P.N. BROADCASTERS YESTERDAY WERE A JOKE! ONE OF THEM SAID IT WAS A FLAGRANT BECAUSE BYNUM FOULED WITH A WIND-UP! WHERE IN THE HELL DOES IT SAY THAT IN A RULE BOOK! THEN THEY TRIED TO GLORIFY J.R.(JERK RETARD) SMITH’S PASSING ABILITY WHEN ALL HE WAS DOING WAS PASSING TO OPEN PLAYERS DIRECTLY UNDER THE BASKET! THATS NOT GREATNESS ITS SHETTY DEFENSE! THEN VAN GUNDY SAID THE NUGGETS HAVE COACHABILITY! WELL PHUCK ME! DOESNT EVERY TEAM IN THE CONFERENCE FINALS HAVE COACHABILITY? IF YOU HAVE TO SAY IT THEY PROBABLY DONT!

  • L.A. All The Way

OMG! Make up their minds already! First it’s not a foul, then it’s a flagrant foul, then it’s not a flagrant just a regular foul. C’mon! Do the officals know how dumb they are making themselves look? If this is not going to add points to our next game then who the hell cares anymore. I agree with another comment…at the rate these stupid calls are being made maybe they need to resort to letting them challenge those calls.

[Comment ID #73282 Will Be Quoted Here] Sorry guys, I was talking in regards to the “tripping” foul committed by Jones to Kobe. I guess I’m still fuming over that stupid incident! LOL

sad. just plain sad. he doesn’t deserve to be let off. but then that’s the problem with professional sports, isn’t it? more worried about the money that can be made, than holding a higher standard which would bring in money.
