Usually here at the Lakers Nation, we do “2nd Look” for game winners (let’s get real, Kobe Bryant clips) and dunks. But today, we’d like to give a “2nd Look” at the closing minute of last night’s ah-mazing game…

Here’s the last 6.1 seconds of the game. After the cut… And I still think Fisher was fouled in that steal. Whatever.

  • Dameon

EFF these refs man, if we lost, then it would be totally their fault on blowing that call, how does a guy just fall down to the ground, specially a guy as physically tough as derek fisher, bullshit no-call

  • Sasha4Lvp

i think it was pretty obvious that fish got fouled on inbounds pass. but it was in utah, so i guess it doesn’t count. it doesnt matter, we got the last laugh.

Kobe + Fisher = Clutch Babies

  • 24>23

stupid refs….they should get fined $35,000 for that missed call on fisher!!!!!!!

  • http://thetruthrenaissance.wordpress.com/ BE_A_LakerFan

How the f*** does the ref not see that foul!? He’s looking right at Fisher when he gets held. That makes no sense at all!

It really seems like Joe Crawford has something against the Lakers. I don’t really believe in the whole conspiracy thing but he always makes the worst calls when we play.

  • justdogm1

when you complain about EVERY F ING CALL( like fish and the self glossed mamba do.) when you really do get hooked ,ref`s could care less……….so weak blaming the refs….bad pass, period.

    • Marwan Marzina

same can go for lebronx. oh well hes doing the complaining for the last time in cleveland, get ready to see your lover in the blue and orange.

    • Marwan Marzina

Lol, sorry but it had to be said. Its the truth.

  • http://www.myspace.com/626bones Lakers 24 7

Artest almost f*cked up twice. He threw the pass away, that’s ONE..then if Williams had scored on ‘em, that would’ve been TWO..he sure got lucky. lol

    • Marwan Marzina

First, the pass was a foul for Fisher.
Second, I’m sure shutting down Durant for 6 games was all luck.

    • 242LakerFan

Third, D-Will himself said Artest made him take a shot he didn’t want to take, so…

  • Marwan Marzina

Kobe and Derek, best 1-2 clutch punch!

  • LakerNationCitizen

8 vs 5 – and the Lakers still won! HA! Tonight is sweep night. Ohhhh yesss! =)

  • ReignMaN

Was it me or was hubie brown REALLY cheering for the jazz? This old man is losing his mind!!! Watch the first vide, when kobe gets the screen from gasol and drains the 3. • bc18

The SBA (Stern Basketball Association) f***ked up. Here’s Stern’s rules:
    .
    1) if a game is close, have the refs either ‘miss’ calls for the better team, or make calls in favor of the ‘underdog’ team (or the NBA favored team, like the Cavs).
    .
    2) if the game isn’t close, there isn’t much the refs can do. Having refs call fouls, or miss calling fouls to help the other team catch up would be too obvious.
    .
    3) Try to stretch out the playoffs as much as possible. It’s good for basketball (ratings, $$$, etc. – in fact, it’s all about the $$$ —- SBA Cares).
    .
2 things are obvious from this game: 1) the refs helped to keep the game close (especially at the end), 2) the Jazz messed up by not making the last ‘gift’ shot.
    .
Another thing that the SBA didn’t expect: the Cavs and Celdicks would be tied 2 games apiece. What’s wrong with ‘the elbow’. ….. THE ELBOW? It’s causing all these problems. ESPN is aghast, and so is the SBA. Where are the refs? They’ll show up in games 5-7. The SBA is going to be upset if the Lakers play the Magic in the Finals. JUST not good for the ratings (or, as good as Lakers/Celdicks, or Kobe/LeBron).

cynicism is alive and well . . . when the facts dont support your theory , change the facts. Otherwise, make up excuses as to why the facts dont support your conspiracy, while at the same time still insisting the conspiracy is bulletproof.

    • Robert

Your response is quite confusing. Can you explain it in a bit more detail?

      • bostonSUCKS88

to put boss’ comments in simple terms, he’s just saying that u have ur mind already made up that the NBA is rigged, and no matter what happens u will stick to ur conspiracy theory by changing ur facts/excuses to support your theory

    • Robert

What you are saying is equally confusing. I didn’t mention anything about facts. And, how can one change facts? I simply reported observations.
      .
      Theory stands.

      • bostonSUCKS88

so u will change ur facts/excuses/observations to support ur theory. call it what u like. it is cynicism. whether its a close game, blow out, short series or long series, ur mind is made up. nothing the NBA can do about it.

    • Robert

I’m not changing anything. I’m also not calling it anything. You called it something. I’m not even sure what ‘it’ is.
      .
      I’m just stating things.
      .
      and …
      .
they’re absolutely true! (no cynicism, just objectivism)

      • bostonSUCKS88

if ur so sure the nba is rigged, why do u still watch? i wouldnt want to watch something that is fake.

  • Marwan Marzina

The elbow seemed fine enough to throw an elbow to the grill of Ray Allen.

    • Marwan Marzina

I meant – The elbow felt fine enough to hit Ray Allen with it.

  • Robert

I love basketball, and the Lakers. I don’t think it’s ‘completely’ rigged.
    .
But there are ‘foul quotas’. If you watch a game, you could probably find a foul every possession. But refs can’t do that, or the game would come to a grinding halt. So they have to ‘pick’ their fouls. Yes, it’s hard to do.
    .
And others (not me) have documented ‘some’ refs’ preferences. Also, for some games, one can correlate ‘some’ calls by refs to previous statements made by team coaches, or players (like, ‘man, they called more fouls on us’ – instant fine, and then … too bad).
    .
Anyway, there is enough randomness, talent, and excitement for it to probably be based more on team skill. But you might notice that, all things being equal, there is some favoritism. Even Phil mentioned that Kevin Durant was getting a lot more calls, that are more deserving of a ‘superstar’ (like Kobe, LeBron). Phil got fined for that.
    .
I was ‘mostly’ saying that the NBA would prefer a Finals with LeBron vs. Kobe, or Lakers vs. Celtics, rather than Orlando vs. Lakers. It brings in better rating$.
    .
OK, I’m probably stretching it by saying they rig it to go one way. But I can definitely say that in the 2008 Finals, more fouls were called ‘against’ the Lakers, and not enough for the ‘physical’ Celtics. Their excuse was ‘oh, the Celtics are always physical, they’re not really fouling – they’re just being physical as usual’. KG made TONS of moving screens, but rarely if ever got called. Remember that? It was atrocious.
    .
Anyway, this is all fun. (I hope!).
